I just want to say ads at the start of a LIVE stream is the most annoying thing in the world I just want to go through my list to see who is doing what and switch between streams to see how someone else is doing at that exact time not 10 seconds after i click on their streams.
I understand youtube ads in the beginning but this is live Id rather twitch give me a countdown to when Im getting an ad.

The ads just ruined my mood ... making me miss an epic move.

Completely Blocking live streams with ads ruins the experience. I avoid starting streams I would have otherwise watched because I don’t want to get hit with 6 ad rolls while trying to follow a match. Partial screen block would be a big improvement

More ads on twitch than free-tv has nowadays.

Its high time you integrated turbo with subs. The no ads only on channels that you are subbed to is not feasible if I watch more than 3 streamers. Just the instance of getting a pre roll where I cant see the stream kills my interest in a stream and grossly affects discoverability for smaller streamers. Turbo should be enabled by default if someone has 3 subs on twitch if you don't want people to use adblockers.

The "ad break" **** has gotten really bad for me now, like they've doubled down on it. I'm getting interruptions every 15-30 minutes or so.

I was just about to send a feedback ticket about this, but got directed to look in the uservoice thing and seen people talking about it too. Ads that take over the stream itself are indeed abysmal.

When watching someone, you end up missing things because an ad shows and blocks out the whole stream. It's not like you can add them in a VOD and when the ad ends it just resumes where you left off. You literally lose a chunk of the stream. If it was a tense/vital moment you miss, it's even worse.

Also, when you merely go to a stream, an ad plays. That makes it difficult to jump around checking people out to see if I'd like to stay because you have to wait 30 seconds to get to the stream itself. If I don't like the streamer, I will have essentially funded the person I don't like and wasted my time to boot.

So Twitch absolutely has to get rid of the ads in the stream itself as there's no good way to do it.

Something need to change... I stopped watching TV because of ads.. when Twitch doesn't do something with this ad policy then i think people will stop watching.. People hate annoying ads. Make them smaller in a corner or a little window near chat.

Just accept "no" as an answer instead of trying to shove ads into the faces of users that have made it very clear they are not interested in viewing ads. I'm considering ditching the platform completely if they situation with intrusive forced ads doesn't improve soon.

There is too many intrusive ads, Twitch its out of hand.

These ads make it so annoying finding a new stream, or even when I'm part of a host/raid and the first bit is nothing but ads, than a few minutes later you get even more, how in the **** am I supposed to enjoy a stream when i miss so much of it?

These new ads are intrusive and ruining my experience as a viewer, they aren't even started by the streamer when nothing is happening, they're at random throughout the stream. Something important could be happening and I miss out on what happened because the stream is booted out of t he way and muted while an ad plays instead.

Preroll ads + intrusive ads in the middle of the stream... sod off, Twitch. I will continue to use your platform as little as possible until this changes.

As for subbing, right. The solution is always to spend more, as Twitch wants. But I'm not going to drop a sub (particularly in these times) on some random streamer I want to check out but can't because oh no, gotta sit through an ad just to access anything. I wouldn't do it, knowing Twitch is getting a cut, either.

The way ads work on here is really dumb and counterproductive.

Ads on twitch are too intrusive and impact chat's enjoyment of streams. So it would be great if instead of stopping us from watching the stream during ads, the small screen that appears at the top of chat would play ads (muted by default) at different time intervals.

@hypefawx Right, here's the problem, how do you see enough of their content to decide this is worth five bucks a month? Hmn? When the best moments are hidden behind two to three minutes of ads? How, as a small streamer, do I coax someone to wait through two minutes of ads to click on my stream at all? The ads encourage people to hunker down, and only watch one or two streamers that they already know are good. Which works fine, for now. But what happens when the current streamers start to leave the platform, or burn out and quit? As a small streamer it's difficult enough to garner attention, but now not only do I have to convince someone to view my stream over someone else's, but I have to convince them it's worth waiting through a few minutes of ads, and I can't even promise they will be able to see my best moments if they do.

At least if I knew when the ads were coming, and it was the same for everyone, I could pause a game (if possible) I could step back, get some water, take a break. And yes, you're right, every platform needs to pull ad revenue. Kinda like how police need to carry guns. It doesn't mean we need to excuse them for shooting themselves in the foot. It's about HOW they monetize the platform, not if they do. There are less intrusive ways to drive revenue. The reason mid-roll ads work on other platforms is because they aren't -live-, you don't -miss- anything. When a mid-roll ad plays on Youtube, the content stops, the ad plays, then the content resumes where you left it. I have never seen a mid-roll ad during live content on Youtube, maybe because they realize it would kneecap their content creators. There's a reason why they're whitelisted in my adblocking software.

And especially at a time when a lot of people have lost their jobs, when money is super tight for everyone, a comment like "Well just sub to everyone you watch LAWL" is tone deaf and lacking in basic human empathy. Few people have that kind of money. I certainly don't. I've been very lucky to be able to maintain the two subscriptions I have on Twitch, I certainly couldn't afford to shell out more money for more subs to the channels I watch.

Moreover there are totally unobtrusive ways to do this. Like market research surveys, or scientific, medical surveys. They already have overlays that allow a streamer to put a poll up on the stream, why not do it with something that gets them a slice of research budget pie? But no let's just excuse Twitch for doing something nobody does because they realize it's stupid. Even good old fashioned televised sports isn't stupid enough to throw in commercials wherever, they throw them during timeouts, halftime, etc. They wait for a break in the content, then run the biggest ads of the year, then go back to the game.

In other news, what have you guys done w/ all the feedback regarding midroll ads? I still see large blocks of 6 or 7 at most inopportune times. Just hoping people give up & give in?

Subscribe to the streamer then you wont have ads. Excuse the platform for pulling ad revenue like every single platform on the internet.

Absolutely disruptive; it's also glaringly obvious how bad this is for the experience when it involves Among Us--ads will frequently interrupt important discussions during the game, making the rest of the match impossible to follow.

I can’t agree more I got on the forum to try to see if all the ads came with a new patch or something I literally could not stand to watch today I would get 6 ads and then 30 seconds of the stream and another 6 ads it happened with multiple streams all day long it’s not even worth watching some games because there is 3 minutes of action and it is always getting cut out by ads

I’ve been watching twitch for nearly a decade and I’ve never been as annoyed by the sheer amount of full screen ads as I have in the last 24 hours.
