Stop forcing people through phone verification, even for those channels that don't require verification. Twitch Support seemed to say you'd
Twitch Support said you'd be "happy" to receive my feedback so here it is:
Now you are forcing people to undertake phone verification on a whim for whatever discriminatory reasons you choose to, so that you can't chat in channels that haven't opted into "phone verification" and now you remove the ability to chat anywhere based on this.
I've had my account 6+ years without this requirement, yet this weekend it was thrust upon me, even in my own channel or channels that don't have a phone verification requirement set and since I have been provided no reasoning or justification to suggest otherwise, this is under discriminatory reasons.
Yet bots and scams seem to prevail the platform so it seems that these requirements only punish legitimate users who can't or won't verify (because you've shown a lack of care leaking user data in the last year) while those that run spambots don't care about their reputation and can continue to do so freely.
At minimum if you refuse to remove whatever you've decided unilaterally about my account, you should at minimum refund anyone who was gracious enough to gift me any subscriptions - because this is tantamount to theft.
Also this form is an accessibility NIGHTMARE.

Just found this thread. FYI, here are other threads about the same garbage:
https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310201-chat/suggestions/49779029-honor-the-verified-accounts-only-setting
https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310201-chat/suggestions/45270061-verified-only-chat-site-wideSince this hit my account of 7+ years this past April, I've been diverting as much spending as I can from Amazon (who owns twitch) to other retailers for both my personal purchases as well as those I make for work. Yes, this is a drop in the bucket for them, but it will count up over time & makes me feel like I'm doing *something* in retaliation.
Typical twitch - fix what isn't broken, break stuff in the process, don't fix what is. Just FailFish all around on their part...

Let me say that Support has only this place as a way to commiserate and dump the users comments into the Bit Bucket / Round File as they can't even seem to provide a non automated answer to the issues.
Only PHONE MOBILE NUMBERS from Providers that share INFO with twitch must be the qualification.
Even AMAZON has a system that lets you verify via VOICE CALL or provides alternatives

yep, same here. cancelled all payments. twitch customer support dont care at all about their customers. at this point i'm pretty certain its 99% badly coded AI agents that just send you round in circles.
maybe next year when their revenue starts dropping there will be someone there with more than 2 functional brain cells who is able to work out that alienating your loyal customers whose money pays your wages is not a recipe for financial success

Same here, I will probably delete my account at some point. Good thing is that some streamers' channels where I care about chatting are moving to youtube and kick. The sad thing is that I've have ongoing subscriptions (gifted and paid by me) that are gonna be money down the drain, but that's life...

Same here, for the second time already. I will probably remove my account soon, i spent a good amount of money on subscriptions every month, but i guess that is not enough, and they also want to sell my phone number.

Same issue here.
Even channel I'm subbed too I cant chat in. So i wont be renewing my subs unless this is removed.
Twitch isn't going to get my phone number, and if they keep forcing it, they arent getting any of my sub money either.
I've been using twitch since they split from justin.tv, now they lost me.

I've been dealing with this since August. Every time I contact Twitch support, they take an hour to send me an automatic reply that amounts to "someone will read your post", but then hours later I get a bot response, not a reply from a person. The bot response fails to address any of my questions. I've been chatting on Twitch for over ten years and dutifully following all of the rules, never harassing anyone or being obnoxious. I've even been apologized TO by people.
I've contacted the owners of certain channels outside of Twitch, and they've confirmed that they didn't turn on phone verification. My email has been verified for over ten years and Twitch always found it acceptable. Now, for no apparent reason, Twitch wants my phone number too, even though Twitch has had data leaks and phones are especially targeted by scams in election years.
Twitch, please stop arbitrarily demanding both email addresses and phone numbers from people! You're not even giving an explanation for why you picked who you did!
