I've been dealing with this since August. Every time I contact Twitch support, they take an hour to send me an automatic reply that amounts to "someone will read your post", but then hours later I get a bot response, not a reply from a person. The bot response fails to address any of my questions. I've been chatting on Twitch for over ten years and dutifully following all of the rules, never harassing anyone or being obnoxious. I've even been apologized TO by people.
I've contacted the owners of certain channels outside of Twitch, and they've confirmed that they didn't turn on phone verification. My email has been verified for over ten years and Twitch always found it acceptable. Now, for no apparent reason, Twitch wants my phone number too, even though Twitch has had data leaks and phones are especially targeted by scams in election years.
Twitch, please stop arbitrarily demanding both email addresses and phone numbers from people! You're not even giving an explanation for why you picked who you did!
