Locked out of chats sitewide

I was recently locked out of all chats site-wide, unless I give twitch my phone number. My last chat timestamp is ~12:30pm UTC and I have been unable to chat anywhere since ~12:35pm UTC.
My account is >6 years old and has a verified email, and active subscriptions, and an Amazon prime connection. I have no interest in giving twitch my personal phone number, I get enough spam already.
Twitch support has been utterly unhelpful and passive aggressive, so this is my only remaining avenue to resolve this. Did I get caught up in some kind of banwave?

i got the same issue, don't know when but i found out today some hours ago, i didn't think anything of it because it was just 1 stream and i continued on about my day, i then went to twitch again and... another verification lock, and then another, and another, and-... you get the idea, they do this in waves to users to stop bots, it doesn't matter the account, you could have a 16 year old account that has many long sub streaks and the subscriptions like prime and/or turbo, you will still get hit with it, i just hope i get allowed back in soon too

Some time in the last several hours I was allowed back in. For the record twitch support closed the ticket declaring they could not do anything and I needed to add my phone number. I did not, and I will not.
