Let Partners Keep Old Names
It's stated that Partner Support is allowed to help with ONE name change, and nothing else after that. As well as previous partner names not being re-released into the cycle of usernames for people to have. What I don't understand is, if these names are not being re-released into the public, why can't I have my old name back or have support help me change my name back? It just seems very silly to have to jump through 100 loops to have a name I used for nearly 2 years back if they're not going to release it anyway. Even if the restrictions are tighter (longer wait time to switch between names, x amount of names can be saved for a specific person, etc.) I'd just like my old name back and I feel silly that I can't have it even though no one else can either.
I tried reaching out directly and was instructed to make a UserVoice for this. I feel a bit silly, as it doesn't feel as important as many of the other UserVoices on here that deserve attention.

Allowing Twitch Partners to keep their previous usernames would help preserve their brand identity, audience recognition, and established community connections, especially for creators who have built a following over many years. I think this is a reasonable feature request, especially for Twitch Partners who have used a particular username for years. If an old name is reserved and cannot be claimed by anyone else, it would make sense to offer a clear process for recovering it, with reasonable restrictions to prevent abuse. Better account management policies can improve the user experience while keeping usernames secure and consistent. I think this is a reasonable feature request, especially for Twitch Partners who have used a particular username for years and want to return to it. If a previous username is being reserved and cannot be claimed by other users, it would be helpful to have a clear policy for requesting its restoration, with appropriate eligibility requirements and security measures.
A more flexible username management system could improve the overall account experience while maintaining Twitch’s existing naming policies. I understand the frustration of losing something you've used for a long time. It reminds me of keeping a green garden shed, once a space has become yours and is no longer available to others, it makes sense to have a reasonable way to reclaim it. https://greenglowgardenn.com/green-garden-shed-ideas/

It's so incredibly stupid. I've heard of multiple partners getting locked of their old names that they had on their account. Almost feels like a benefit of being an affiliate.

I am dealing with the very same issue. What is the point of reserving the name if the user can't access it again. Partner support was not helpful nor did they provide any real support.

WhatsApp Plus updates are really important because they bring new features, fix bugs, and improve security, making the app smoother and more fun to use. Different versions like WhatsApp Plus Dorado, Rosado, or Verde give users options with unique themes and extra customization. Staying updated ensures you enjoy these new colors and tools without glitches. For example, you can check out WhatsApp Plus Dorado’s latest features naturally at https://waplusweb.com/whatsapp-plus-dorado/ and see why updating matters.

I completely understand your frustration — it does feel counterintuitive that names which aren’t being released to the public are still off-limits for the original owner. Even if stricter rules were in place, like a longer cooldown or a limited number of “saved” names per account, it seems reasonable that someone should be able to reclaim a name they’ve used for years.
I think your suggestion makes sense and could help reduce unnecessary hoops for users who just want a name they’ve had for a long time. Hopefully, Twitch can consider a system that balances account safety with flexibility for returning partners. Thanks for taking the time to bring this up!

At Metalworks BC https://metalworksbc.com/logan-ut/ , we understand the importance of brand consistency. Just like a business name becomes synonymous with quality and trust in the steel fabrication industry, a streamer's username represents their brand identity and the community they've built. It's counterproductive to permanently lock creators out of names they've established, particularly when those names remain reserved in the system.

Twitch, this is a very silly system. If no one else can use their old name and they changed their mind and want to go back you should let them. There's no valid reason to not let a streamer have a previous name that no one else can use anyway.
