@Z64bit no one asked you. It's an ongoing pandemic. This is the least that Twitch could do to protect its user-base and creators. Without which they are nothing.

Not only should masking be mandatory for all attendees, but every member of staff. Last year Dan Clancy, the CEO himself, was seen attending large gatherings without a mask, only to later test positive for COVID shortly after. Along with many of the people he was witnessed around. Several streamers' communities have kept an eye on the last couple of Twitch cons, and did more than Twitch itself by contact tracing positive cases confirmed by people posting their test results. In 2023 there were over 300 confirmed positive cases that could be traced back to Twitchcon. That's only the confirmed cases and does not account for asymptomatic cases or people that are suspected to have had COVID based on stated symptoms but did not take a test.
All this to say is that it is extremely important for public health and the community at large to take this issue seriously. The pandemic is not over and will only continue to if more people don't take responsibility for their actions. Let Twitch stand above others and set an example for other conventions. Failure to do so will be nothing short of a statement that Twitch as a whole does not care about immunocompromised and otherwise vulnerable individual with or without disabilities.

Twitch, this is a very silly system. If no one else can use their old name and they changed their mind and want to go back you should let them. There's no valid reason to not let a streamer have a previous name that no one else can use anyway.

Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads!
These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. Creators will receive ad revenue for each SDA shown.

Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

@Z64bit The numbers don't lie and the numbers say that in the US people are still being hospitalized by COVID on a regular basis. Some are dying and many are being permanently disabled by Long COVID. Your personal anecdote is useless in the face of the vast wealth of data that exists on this matter. Sit down, read a book, and go learn something for once.
