  1. The V5 videos API returns a field called broadcaster_software which contains the ID of the software used when broadcasting the video (if known to Twitch). This allows callers to identify if the stream was broadcast on consoles (Playstation or XBox) which is useful to determine the origin of a video.

As V5 API is being shut down soon, It would be great if this was formalized in the Helix videos API and documented with known values for the various consoles.

  2. if you lookup a game by name or ID, it doesn't return what the URL for that game's Twitch Directory is.

So there is no way to do linking from a game search page to the directory to find streamers via Twitchs site, rather than doing a chained streams lookup third party side.

  3. Code is missing, does not work as is. For example in the jquery for form in viewer.js. Location.protocol is not defined for me and I had to change the selection id to "#myForm" for the jquery call to work.

  4. There's currently no way to view the games/chapters on a video. This would be very useful for an application I'm building

  7. As a developer creating statistics tools, chat bots, overlays and loyality tools, i also would like to add bits spent to those tools, which were obtained through extensions, for example Sound Alerts or Stream Stickers.

I would suggest adding a new field "isextensionbits" being true or false in the notification body (or, as an alternative, have a seperate notification type to not confuse existing apps, like channel.cheer.extension)

  8. Add endpoints to retrieve Channel statistics, either returning the data in JSON or just a way to programatically get the csv (the one the Creator Dashboard has).

As a third option, you can also make the GQL API available and provide documentation for it.

This is mostly needed because for many twitch is a business, and part of growing it is the ability to interpret this data and change accordingly.

I need some help. I am looking for a developer who can easily integrate twitch with my website https://cloptoncapital.com/. I tried a lot by myself but nothing happened. So if you have any information about it then please do let me know. Thank You

  14. Currently, the only way for a bot to know its chat limits is by hard-coding them. Even using the (undocumented?) user chat info endpoint isn't sufficient to determine what hard-coded limits to apply today, since whisper limits depend on when an account was verified.

It would be much better for a bot to query a (documented) endpoint and retrieve its rate limits in that way.

  15. The new suspicious users feature should be available to third-party moderation tools.

    https://safety.twitch.tv/s/safety-news/detail?language=en_US&post=Using-Machine-Learning-to-Curb-Ban-Evasion

A lot of moderators use third-party tools and it would be quite important to at least be able to see the messages/warnings. It would be even better if changing the restricted/monitoring state of a user would be possible as well.

This would be akin to the great AutoMod API, which provides mods with a PubSub topic for detailed real-time information and Helix endpoints for handling messages.

  17. Add support for RFC8252 (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8252#section-7.1) which allows for users to specify custom scheme URI's for OAUTH callback urls. This would allow native application developers to not have to piggyback through a server and instead they can configure their applications to handle these schemes for confirming the oauth callback, for example my-app-name:/authorization?code=XXXXX

  18. Request

Organize channel.subscription topics to allow for alert like notifications to properly be provided. What displays in chat should be able to be mimicked via EventSub topics without having active tracking or additional api calls; Provide missing data where needed; Create new topics to fill in the gaps.

    Current Scenarios

Brand New Subscriber: If a user subscribes for the first time in the channel, we get an alert as soon as they sub. This is incidental that it works properly for stream based alerts, as we are actually receiving the payment transaction rather than the in chat event.

  19. The example for using the CLI to test your handler shows a secret that looks like a 32-byte hexadecimal string. Actually the CLI interprets it as an ASCII string, so the example is actually passing a 64-byte string for the secret. I found this very misleading and it took me a bit of time to figure out why my code was not computing the correct HMAC until I realized that the format the CLI expects is ASCII string not hexadecimal string.
