  1. It would be nice to find out the last that a channel did an actual stream from the API.

This has been requested in the past, and a Twitch admin responded with some workaround that are pretty limiting.

There may be some valid (privacy?) reasons by Twitch as to why this isn't something they want to offer up, but let's see if there's interest from others.

Ideally, the helix/users call would return a 'last_streamed_at' field set to the last date that a user streamed.

This could be limited to only apply to streaming (not logged in and watching/chatting) and you…

  2. On the documentation for creating an eventsub subscription the page claims a success response should have a status code of 201, but the actual status code returned on success is 202.

Either the documentation should be changed to refled the API, or the API changed to reflect the documentation.

  3. The route 66 SDK for Unity and Unreal engine should have a proper way of testing the active subscriptions and events.

For example using the Twitch CLI mock-api as the server by changing the server the SDK tries to access.

  5. The idea is simple: Add the same phone & email verification options to the ability to actually follow a channel, and thus also giving account age requirements to be able to follow a channel. This will allow small streamers being targeted by hate raid Bot attacks to simply prevent the bot attacks easily, instead of being driven off the platform.

  6. Previously a call to "https://api.twitch.tv/kraken/channels/123456/videos" included "_total" (The total number of videos).
    This was removed in Helix.
As a replacement, you need to iterate through every 100 videos for a channel and count manually. This results in thousands of extra API calls.

  8. In Twitch v5, the Get User Subscription endpoint contained a created_at and a streak for the current user subscription for a broadcaster.

Helix, lacks this functionality, and thus it is impossible to determine how long someone has been subscribed for, and also impossible to determine if they've renewed their subscription.

These fields are imperative to some applications, especially ones that want to externally reward members monthly for each month they've subscribed. Please return these fields to the endpoint!

  10. the linked glitch account code, twitch-chatbot
by Matt Auerbach looks for the string '!d20' in bot.js instead of the string '!dice' as indicated in this guide. caused a moment of confusion

  11. Console AND mobile gamers have INCREDIBLY few options for overlays.

But we appreciate the 1-2 teams out there trying to make things work completely source agnostic... for example... Overlay Expert.

However there are games with Game Specific Overlays (BL3 which also supports console, Lost Ark, Card games with mobile OS versions...) that we cannot use at the Same Time.

Even if we just want to put in some nice alerts for thanks for following and etc.

EXAMPLE: Play Destiny 2 on Console/PC/Cloud with cross-save-etc? How about the D2 armory extension + an overlay extension for your followers?

    Can't do it…

  12. With the Legacy Twitch API v5 (i.e. kraken) finally coming to a close, it would be nice to be able to search the dev forums for info related specifically to helix, as many answers that deal with kraken will be totally irrelevant and outdated now. Could be as simple as adding "API + helix" category to the advanced search options (similar to the current "API + Migration" category). I feel it would especially help newer developers on the platform to not go down rabbit holes of (now) unusable information and answers. Thank you very much!

  14. I think an EventSub subscription type that would be really useful is one that alerts when an advertisement begins from the user's scheduled Ad Manager. This would allow bots the ability to post a message to users about the ad and remind them about subscribing and such when the ad begins.

  15. I was thinking that some kind of listener in embedded clips that would run a function once the clip had ended.

For example, in my case, I wanted to run an array of clips one after in an iframe (HTML). Within twitch's API there is no way to do this and I think it would be very beneficial to twitch developers to have an ".onEnded()" function in some way for embeded clips.

  16. Add a "/users"-like API method that supports display names. This will let bot commands which have a username parameter support Asian-family character display names to be passed the same as Roman-alphabet channel names. It will also let systems verify that a provided name (channel or display) exists on Twitch, and merge any information for a user's display name with the information for that user's channel name, to prevent "duplicate" sets of data: one for the display name; one for the channel name.

  17. At the moment we can either page through all followers of a specified user or check the follow relationship between two specified users. What we can't do is to provide a broadcaster and a list of users to get the follow relationships between the given broadcaster and the specified list of users. There is an endpoint for broadcaster subscriptions (Get Broadcaster Subscriptions). It takes a broadcaster id and a list of user ids. Please provide a similar endpoint for broadcaster follows (Get Broadcaster Follows). It would be very helpful and could reduce the amount of requests against the Get Users…

  19. The API response for

    https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#get-extensions
    https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#get-released-extensions

    Omits Category and Games entries

    Please add this information.

Part of my operational work flow will involve asking the API for the dev console held settings and checking that the dev console matches what I think it should be

  20. For when a user unfollows a channel.
Will be useful when a streamer wants to provide some perks for followers but be able to revoke them when they unfollow. Currently you'll have to fetch the followers list periodically to find out if someone unfollows.
