Twitch category name collision
Currently two (or more) games with the exact same name (usually reboots) share the same category in Twitch. And all the cover art, description, tags are taken from only one of the games. This usually means that the other game(s) effectively completely lacks a page on twitch, despite being a completely different game and having unique gameplay. Can something be done about this?

The fact that igdb is owned by twitch, is the root cause of this issue and is unable to help solve this is ridiculous

Is there a way to get a separate url for levelhead?
-
Lex_Limbo commented
There is a name collision with levelhead as well

How do we get this fixed for Levelhead... It has been months with no resolution... We have an alternate official name that is being rejected in igdb which would fix this issue

I was told to please reach out to Twitch support about creating a category for Levelhead as it currently has a name collision, has an alternative name already approved - "Levelhead: Platformer Maker" and the other game is defunct & abandoned (no streams have ever happened on Twitch).

There seems to be a game collision for Shadowrun, where only the RPG release is being listed but the FPS, which is a completely different and separate release isn't.
The IGDB team said that Twitch themselves would have to push thru the game thru the UserVoice ticket here. As a community, we are currently streaming under a similar name but would love to be able to stream under the correct category, even if that means adding an 'FPS' to the end of the name to minimize any confusion for Twitch users searching.
Thank you very much,

Another games colliding. Especially problem for our Mafia speedrun community. Since someone added this old C64 game it keeps throwing us into that category. I would kindly ask for fix since IGDB page just would not accept to slightly rename that recently added game....

Thank you

Seems like this issue is temporarily fixed for God of War. So the priority for this sadly seems to just be silencing the louder communities case-wise rather than doing a site-wide fix that an intern can probably finish in half a day.

Unfortunately, Twitch is not likely to take action while this has such low visibility. Most games impacted by this have small communities so the only thing we can do is raise awareness and get more votes here.

Here's a idea on how to handle collisions. I'll use Ixion as an example.
https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Ixion would bring up every matching game, not just the first one in the IGDB database. Live Channels, Videos, etc would show all matching games combined.
You'd list each matching game, with a Follow button for each one. If you want to limit the list of Live Channels, Videos, etc to a specific game a new drop down could be added for that on the page someplace. Or perhaps that'd just redirect you to a page such as:
https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Ixion/40345
https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Ixion/152258Where only the one specific game's info would appear, with the Follow button, Live Channels, Videos, etc only being for this one specific game. Those are the IGDB ID #s.
This way all existing pretty URLs will remain working, but you can dial down into the correct specific game you want to stream or watch or subscribe to.
As it stands when Ixion releases tomorrow, streamers will be forced into the category for a typing game from 1980 that happened to have the same name.

How can this still be broken after 18 months? Twitch is primarily a video game streaming platform. Not being able to choose the correct game you are streaming or want to follow via the Categories list should be a priority fix.

Is there any other way to reach out to the team at Twitch about this?

Trying to watch Levelhead but a game/art piece that requires a physical controller took priority over it? Fix this category please! Not sure why that other game would ever be on this site anyways.

I'm the developer of the recently released horror game Saturnalia. Opening a ticket because there's another game with the same title (from 2017) on IGDB and the two games are getting merged together on the Twitch side of things, resulting in the older game being shown (cover / description) on streams for our game.
Is there a way to separate the two and get people playing our game to the correct category?

There are 2 "The Harvest" on IGDB, but only one is showing on Twitch.
They are different games, from different studios.https://www.igdb.com/games/the-harvest (this one is showing on twitch)
https://www.igdb.com/games/the-harvest--1 (this one is not)
Our community has been streaming "The Harvest", but it's not showing the correct game from IGDB.
https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/The%20Harvest/videos/all
Could Twitch add our shooter The Harvest?
How can we solve this? or should we change on IGDB to "The Harvest Game" to differentiate it? -

Two games sharing the same name both to lead only one of the games on Twitch.
Oxygen (Steam) https://www.igdb.com/games/oxygen--1
Oxygen (Itch.Io) (TBA) https://www.igdb.com/games/oxygenWhen searched for in OBS, or on Twitch (PC), both options link to Oxygen (Itch.IO) , despite having different cover art for each. Generated tags both refer Oxygen (Itch.io).

This is still an active issue. It should not be hard to at least include the release year for disambiguation when there are duplicate names, although falling back to an ID would be better.
