Just caught up on my thread and wow, so much spam about Dwarf Fortress. Anyone with reading comprehension should have realized this issue is about literally the opposite of what Dwarf Fortress had. I am glad that one is sorted but don't let the Dwarftards' replies fool you into thinking the issue I reported is sorted. The name collision issue is still a thing. It's so annoying that such a trivial thing requires a revolution to sort and on a case by case basis.

For anyone wondering how this works:
IGDB has a database of games. Their database has a unique ID for every game. Their job is to provide data via API to their partners, including Twitch. Previously Twitch had a partnership GiantBomb. This issue was present back then as well and it will persist even if they move to another data source. The reason? It is upto Twitch to decide how to process the data. Some genius Twitch dev decided that the title of the game was unique enough to identify it. Their whole URL system is based on this assumption, it just converts the game title to kebab case. The only way they are solving the issue currently is by manually mapping a custom URL (for example by appending the release year) with the appropriate IGDB page, when there is enough outrage from a specific game's community. The permanent solution will involve a change in the structure of the URL itself, which feels like twitch is not prioritizing on even though it should be the trivial task.

@ponponthebonbon I have been suggesting this for years to no avail. Funnily enough, the URL for user profiles in this very website seems to follow this exact same pattern of <id>-<name>, lol.

Seems like this issue is temporarily fixed for God of War. So the priority for this sadly seems to just be silencing the louder communities case-wise rather than doing a site-wide fix that an intern can probably finish in half a day.

@kidcharlemagnereturns I don't know which games you follow and have this issue, but it most definitely was an issue pre-IGDB as well, because they used the same URL system for categories. They just need to take the game ID instead of the game name from IGDB API and viola, issue solved.

    Heya!

Dropping by to mention list management improvements are in progress :)

    We've already put live:

    • better custom list edit tools (duplicate warnings, floating nav, mov games to top/bottom etc..)
    • Support for numbered list in grid view
    • Security fixes on list for duplicates or disabled games

List sorting is next up coming very soon. Stay tuned!
