Yeah, as much as I understand the need to cut costs, this is a very drastic change with not a lot of warning.
Two months is not a lot of time, and not everyone can afford to just download all their Highlights, before we even get into creators who, for one reason or another, don't use the platform anymore and won't be able to back everything up.

We would like to offer an “off-duty mode” for Mods, but it isn’t one of our top priorities at the moment. Will revisit in 2021.

Honestly, this would be really great, yeah. Give Streamers in Teams the possibility to immediately catch their team mates.
Maybe it could also work as a VIP badge, but I don't know if that couldn't be abused.

There are so many issues with this on a moral stand point, from it inherently misrepresenting the Artist community on Twitch, to the Environmental impact of AI, and of course the questionable legality and morality of how generative AIs are trained.
But also, frankly, the old category images just looked better than what we have now. AI looks inherently uncanny, and it will never be as vibrant or as colorful as anything a human could make.
Given how big the Artist community is on Twitch, there should be no reason to ever use Generative AI for this.
