Delay The Ads From Start Of Stream
Stream Display ads should not be the first thing you see when entering a stream. It discourages watchers to stay and see what is going on when they are forced to watch 2-5 mins of ad content before they even get to see or hear the streamer. Please set a delay on ads when a new user joins a stream. A user should not see an ad until at least 5-10 mins of stream content has been veiwed... then if you want to bombade the veiwer with ads AFTER they get a chance to watch some of the stream, go on ahead... just don't make ads a priority over the beginning of a stream because it makes Twitch look very greedy, take an example from youtube. I just watched a youtube video and it took 6 mins and 8 seconds before an ad was shown. Guess how long that ad was? 10 seconds.
I'm just browsing the channels. But when I come across a 30-second ad, I turn off Twitch. Advertising is not when we first start watching a channel. It should come after a while. By the way, **** your ads. I hate it.
I cam here to say exactly this. When I open a new streamer I haven't seen before and an ad is the first thing I see, I immediately close the window. Set a delay for first time viewers and you'll see your retention rates raise.
I've worked in targeted advertising for a global satellite TV provider. I've worked with Christine and the Painter brothers when I was there. I have patents for the work I developed there. Trust me when I tell you, this is a huge no-no and is actually costing you money.
