Include Gift Subs in the Partner Plus program
The Partner Plus program is a great step in the right direction for creators on Twitch and I am grateful for the opportunity for a 70/30 split.
However, this program should include gift subscriptions.
The requirement of “a sub count of at least 350 recurring paid subscriptions for three consecutive months” is only achievable for a small percentage of streamers, even those with a high CCV that qualifies them to be in the top 1% of the platform. It is not only difficult to achieve for even those dedicated to Twitch, but having this requirement may even discourage gift subscriptions in communities because being gifted a subscription could take away the possibility of somebody subscribing on their own. To continue to increase revenue for both content creators and Twitch itself, it is essential to encourage gift subscriptions.
I believe there are multiple solutions that could be discussed to allow gift subscriptions to count in the Partner Plus program while still being beneficial for all of us:
1) Include gift subscriptions in the 350 sub requirement
2) Add an additional requirement of 350 recurring paid subscriptions OR 500+ gift subs (or any other number deemed profitable/reliable, I just put 500 as a basepoint suggestion)
3) Extend the requirement for gift subs, example: 350 recurring paid subscriptions over three consecutive months OR 350 consistent gift subscriptions over six consecutive months
So many of us have stayed dedicated to Twitch and prioritized subscriptions as our main source of revenue (me included). Now more than ever, encouraging gift subscriptions is essential for success for us all.

People show support to streams in whatever way works for them and this feels like it’s restricting choice and not offering more. Have the partners even been consulted on these changes, as surely they have the best insights?

This is such a backwards way of giving back to your hardest workers, the smaller streamers. It needs fixing asap.

Yes, thank you! Please make this happen. I think it's disgusting that people cannot benefit more from the 70/30 rather than a small amount of streamers like 3,000 I believe? Shameful. I'm currently sitting on 2.6k subs and not eligible for this terrible Partner plus programme! Thank you for raising these concerns.

As a viewer, I care deeply about my streamers. When I gift subs, I don't want it not help them in a way they care about deeply. Maybe Twitch isn't the company I fell in love with anymore.

Another reason why gift subs should count is because GIFT SUBS DIRECTLY INTERFERE and DISCOURAGE regular viewers from subbing individually since they can expect to get one gifted usually. Many of the streams that I watch regularly, I tend to get gifted regularly, removing the need for me to sub

I think Twitch and us Partners can find a middle ground here. Clearly recurring subs are "more valuable" to Twitch as it commits the viewers to their platform.
So either 350 Recurring subs, or
Alternatively adding a 700 Gifted Subs per month for the last three months, would work for most creators. I think there are many that have 100-200 recurring subs but pushing between 700-1500 gifted subs for years (like myself).

Gifted subs are still subs. If some people want to donate to the community it makes sense to encourage them to donate that money on platform instead of making gifted subs not count as "real" subs. A big gift'er might as well donate via paypal instead.

For two years I've maintained an average of 1400 subscribers and that is because of the benevolence and generosity of my community. X gifts a sub to Y, Y gifts a sub to Z, Z drops 5 gifts. It is cyclical and sustainable.
I understand the notion of not counting gift subs for the set requirements, as someone could gift themself to the threshold and then use it as a tax write-off; but as this post lays out there should be tailored requirements that include those gifts. 700 minimum subscribers including gifts for 3 consecutive months brings twice the profit to Twitch as a corporation using a system that everyone has grown to love and utilize.
Gatekeeping generous communities who emphasize gifts and participate in Hype Trains from achieving the 70/30 split will only result in those communities considering stopping the gifts to encourage users to subscribe on their own. There is another path and it can be equally profitable for the company that must be explored.

The concept of Gift Subbing is one built entirely on showing love for a creator and their community. It allows those of us with extra to give to the communities we frequent. The cornerstone of community building, trust and integrity requires us to come together and uplift the creators we believe in and enjoy watching.
Let our gifts to our communities go further. Expand the Partner Plus Program (a step in the right direction) to include our gifts. The true power in content creation going forward is not in massive CCV channels it lies within communities for mid range creators, of which there's tens of thousands, just waiting for a better deal on Twitch. Tens of thousands of communities just waiting for their gifts to be impactful on their favorite creator's lives. To grant creators the financial space and breathing room they need to create from a place of joy rather than desperation.
I fully understand and respect that Twitch is the absolute top of the live streaming world. YouTube, Kick & Meta will never want to pay for the ability to broadcast the sheer amount of content creators Twitch does. I understand you have your bills to pay as a platform- But so do these creators. I'm not afraid to admit that if Twitch cannot reconcile a better sub split, better ad programs for itself and it's creators and rebuild it's trust with it's userbase then Live Streaming for the small to mid range creator dies and so does the true entrepreneurial spirit that was the genesis for this industry. This is entirely an admission that we need you as much as you need us.
I thank Twitch for giving me the avenue to find communities that sustained me through my absolute worst years. Grant your Partners and their communities this boon. Let the average user know that Twitch knows their choice to spend directly on Twitch instead of another service is acknowledged and rewarded. We WANT to be on Twitch. We WANT this to be our home.
But most of all we just want to know you hear our voices as we ask you to help us empower our favorite creators. Please. For all our sakes (Twitch shot callers included) don't leave us screaming into the void.

Imagine building a very hype community that goes crazy with showing support (which supports Twitch as well) only to be gatekept and told that the contributions a smaller community makes doesn't count, even if it earns more than 350 organic subs that do nothing else.

Twitch do you realize that you are forcing people to work another job again next to streaming, or you made them quit what they loved so much, with the TOS you made?? There are many things that need to be changed - to also give smaller streamers a chance and PLEASE appreciate the lurkers. Forcing streamers to interact and lurkers to speak up is not the right thing to do. Many are watching streams next to work, home work etc. I personally will never call out lurkers.

Of course gifted subs should be included! It's the real money others spent to support a streamer! There is no difference between "normal" subs and gifted subs. The money is the same and the split is the same! That means excluding it makes no sense at all.

Taking away something and then reintroducing it as "new" and then reducing the benefits of said thing to only give more money to the top 2.5% of twitch is something else.
-
lost_abroad101 commented
It's really very illogical to not include gift subs in this total count. Especially considering the fact that some people can't afford it but want to support. Why are you deciding to not count this? Why are you only deciding to help benefit the top 2.5% of ALL partners and 0.016% of all streamers?
Also "Introducing" is kind of a lie since this was taken away. This is a "Reintroducing".
