Dont Gift Subs to Non Followers
Dont Gift Subs to Non Followers it's disappointing when someone who has no intention of watching your stream is gifted a sub, maybe they came by for a minute or two and weren't interested, maybe you beat them in a game and they came by and said something rude then left, maybe they pulled it up on an alt account on their phone before switching to their main account to follow you. Either way it is a waste to gift subs to accounts that have no intention of watching your stream and is an insult to the gifter who's obviously gifting subs with the intention that it will help you grow your stream, otherwise they'd just donate to you directly. Seems an easy fix to make the algorithm give subs to only followers at least until every follower of the account is a sub. Not sure why this isn't a thing already.

Dropped in to say I was gifted a sub to a channel I'm sure I've never watched and won't watch--and I feel kinda gross about it. I was glad I could find a spot to at least cancel it from showing up places, but there should really be a step where I accept the gift or not.
Mostly, I don't think it should be okay for someone to use my name in affiliation with a streamer without my permission. I don't know this streamer, and I don't particularly care to be used as a money laundering vehicle. It's gross!

I strongly disagree with this. While I myself do not want to receive gift subs for channels that I am not watching, and have disabled it in the privacy settings, people who have watched, but are currently not following your channel receiving a gift subscription will notify them that this has happened. This in turn may make them visit your channel again. This is good for you, because it will grow your viewership.
On the flip side, your active viewers receiving a gift subscription is bad for you, because subscribers don't get ads. This in turn means, that if your most regular viewers who watch your stream the most, and who would otherwise contribute the most ad revenue, now no longer do so, which can greatly affect your streaming income. Depending on how often and how long you stream, when you stream, what category you stream in, your typical mean viewer count, and the ratio at which your concurrent viewer count is low retention viewers (people who shortly visit and then leave) versus high retention viewers (people who come to your stream to stay for as long as possible), and resulting advertiser interest to advertise on your channel for these criteria, that the $2 that you get for that one gift sub, can be much less than the ad revenue you would otherwise receive during the month in which it is valid. -

I agree, it doesn't really make sense to reward people with a gift sub who don't follow or in many cases have never even watched a channel, and it often leads to hostility from that person when they enter the stream chat and are upset because they don't like the content. It creates tension between the other chatters and them, and makes it awkward for the streamer, mods, and the person who gifted them a sub in the first place. Followers should be the priority when it comes to gifted subs, and then previous viewers, it doesn't seem fair when you see some good chatters often and random haters are being gifted subs they don't even want.

Yes ..this is what i wanted... Gift sub only for the followers ...I literally search for button that disable gifting subs for non followers.. it will be a wasted gift if the one who got the subs gifted didn't have intentions to watch/ follow the stream.

I kinda see it from both ways, I think there should an amount of time you have to watch, but like I just recently got gifted a subscription to a streamer that I had watched for awhile trying to get drop rewards, which you'd think a gift to me would be bad, however it actually made me pay attention more next time she was on, and I followed then and I really like her.
So, I think it can be bad if it gives a gift to a bad actor, but it also can bring people in like it did me.

I think it is more important that some time passes before the viewer, whether they follow the stream or not, is gifted a sub. And there are time that even some subscribers who are following a channel get gifted a sub and they are hardly in the streams. So it would only be fair they are not gifted a sub for the same reasons a non follower is not gifted a sub.

In my opinion gifted subs should be so that they only (if gifted randomly) would go to people followed to that streamer. as the people who actually are following that streamer who been watching them more (propably) are fans or such but maybe can't afford to buy subscriptions, and the people who do not follow them and receive the gift subs maybe dont even really watch the streamer. For short: gifted subscriptions for only followers.

I was just gifted a sub to a channel I have no intention of watching or being affiliated with.
