Revert the new mobile update
Every time I open the twitch app since the new update I want to die. I'm immediately inundated with a stream that I more than likely don't want to watch with volume on against my will. I can't immediately see who is streaming and find the stream I want to watch without going to a different menu. I can't browse through who is live without closing the stream I'm watching and opening one I don't want to watch and opening a separate menu. I understand you have to justify your jobs by making arbitrary changes so you can show your boss that you did something but this is awful and I can't believe someone actually thought this was a good idea. I genuinely hope that I have a heart attack and die every time I open twitch on mobile now.

I've uninstalled the app, and cancelled Turbo and a whole bunch of subs. The homepage makes no sense to me, the navigation is terrible and autoplay (particularly video) unforgivable. Twitch was how I listened to music. Looks like I need to find more podcasts.

The lack of "Continue watching" is an absolute dealbreaker. I will find other options until that returns.
Everything about the update is awful; it's a bad imitation of TikTok, which isn't what anyone wants when using Twitch anyway, and the amateurish solution to most videos being horizontal (because it's not TikTok) is blurring that wastes most of the screen. There's no way to see what the streamers you follow are doing without going to each one individually. You can't watch a video and go do anything else at all. It's a miserable experience in every way. Everything feels much worse, much more difficult, across every metric. I can't imagine anyone thinking this is an improved experience.
I feel sorry for the designers who had to implement this ridiculous, obviously terrible idea given to them by executives who don't understand what the users want and are chasing returns. This is classic capitalist enshittification.
It is all horrible, but "Continue watching" is a must. I am astonished by how terrible this update is. "Grotesque" is the word that comes to mind.

Twitch app didn't get any proper updates for what feels like a decade, then you do this and it's SO far from what's needed/wanted by anyone who uses the app. I've not seen a company so far out of touch with their user base as Twitch has become.

It is ugly, nearly unusable, and honestly an eyesore. Sometimes I just want to check to see who is streaming or check my notifs without getting eyestrain being thrown face first into a stream. Also, if someone has epilepsy and a stream with flashing lights auto plays as they open the app they could literally die. Also its ugly and annoying. Put it back and fix the actual issues

The update is terrible. It feels like Amazon is out of touch with its user base. It’s trying too hard to be hip and trendy while ignoring what people actually want.
If you’re mad like me, you should let them know by giving the app a one star review -

The entirety of the change is nothing but a step back. The user experience is somehow WORSE in EVERY regard, like did the UI team make these decisions or did some old yuppie on a board who hasn't touched a mobile app since 2000 make these decisions? Cuz either grandpa needs to ******* retire or the UI team is clearly some middle schoolers you've hired off fiver.

I uninstalled, the new app is awful. They had 2 months of feedback on the original thread (comments are closed now) telling them it's awful. So they rolled it out anyway...

The 7/31/24 update is just unpleasant. It's clearly inspired by the format used by Tiktok and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Twitch isn't a short form video website and the main UI format for the app shouldn't be tailored as such.
It is actively worse for me and I imagine the majority of people that use the app daily. The new "main" page at the very least should simply be a separate tab at most (personally I don't think it's good to have at all).
The follow list is very unfriendly and not sorted in any way that's actually pleasant. If I'm correct I believe it's sorted from most to least view time? I can see why you'd *think* that is a useful way to list the channels but it's very much not. It is actively less informative of the content the streams are currently showing. There's no preview, no stream title, and only gives the game they're playing (which is great, except for when that's wrong/not accurate due to any number of reasons).
The "live/clip" page should not be the main page for this app. I do not want to "scroll" through random channels, if anything, I'd want to scroll through my follow list. And even then the previous way was far more user friendly, informative, and over all enjoyable. At a glance/mild swipe up or down who was live, what was being played, and required little time to decipher more if I needed to read to figure out what game it actually way/ what the topic of conversation was planned (i.e streamers like Hasan who tend to list the days planned topics).
I do not and will not ever care or want to scroll through "clips" especially of random people I don't watch. If I want that kind of content, I'll go to tiktok, I want my twitch app to be my twitch app. After all, it's why I've been using it for years over just watching on twitch through a mobile browser which is now how I will likely be consuming my twitch content.
I will add this update isn't all bad. The browse tab is nicer and I prefer it over the previous version (though admittedly I don't/haven't used it very often). The Activity tab is almost much more enjoyable and an upgrade to the app. The profile tab is also a lovely addition/change. And I have no comment on the "go live" feature as I am not a content creator.
So, as a tl/dr: The update's main feature (the home tab) is offensive enough that I will be consuming twitch via my mobile browser until it's either reverted or changed despite the other tabs being genuinely better than before.
I will conclude with a suggestion so that I'm not just adding a complaint/critique but a constructive one.
If you must have the tiktok style scroll through content feature, I highly recommend you move it from home to the "browse tab" and place it as an option next to Categories and Live channels where it should have been placed to begin with and bring back the old Home page with my default following list sorted in the fashion that it was before.

Why can't see follower's stream title without loading up the streams one by one?
And why can't I restrict my home page to only streams I follow? I follow them because I want to watch them. I don't follow other people because I don't want to follow them. 99% of the time I'm not interested in discovery. I've got a decade of people I like to watch and I discover new people through those people, not by having twitch throw a random one at me based on an algorithm -

Why did anyone think that a platform focused on landscape gaming content should change the interface to play video in portrait mode... If you want to display stuff bigger then just do that (which would still be awful as it would display less info at once but at least it wouldn't look like a TikTok clone which come on guys this platform is definitely not!)

The new app IS GOD AWFUL.
Automatically starting a stream? Bad
Having that stream's audio play underneath what I was listening to already? Bad
Having to press the heart icon that is basically hidden to find list of followed channels to watch what I want? Bad
Uncheck "chat overlay" option for chat and have it still overlay chat? Bad
Swiping left to go back in the app leaves the stream I was watching? BadThe new changes are horrible no good and very bad. Please sit down, grab a juice box, and think about what you've done.

Agreed. Whoever is responsible for ruining the app needs to get fired and go back to TikTok.

Please reverse this change back to the old version, it actually worked, if I wanted to watch new streams I had a tab that I could explore that was separated from the follow page, now I can’t distinguish between them I can’t explore my follow page as easily anymore. This new update really sucks.
