720-1440p60fps on Xbox
The issue is Native Live streaming at the max resolution possible on Xbox series consoles and resolution 1080p and a bitrate 6000kbps, it’s technically supposed to do 60 frames but it is locked at a lossy 30 frames per second. Which I also find kind of odd because live streaming at 1080p at 4000kbps isn’t lossy in bitrate quality.
As per conversations with both Microsoft and Xbox Support on X (formally known Twitter) from March 4th through March 11th 2024, the reason I originally reached out to them was to see if they would update the consoles to live stream at 60FPS. Both conversations led to it being on twitchs side of things and that the twitch API/app needs updated for Xbox. As seeing how they confirm that it can and has been tested to be able to live stream at 4K 60 FPS (series X where’s as series S can do 1080p-1440p 60fps). I’m reaching out because this is in my opinion kind of underhanded as PlayStation can live stream natively to twitch at 1080p 60 FPS.
I personally feel (and so do many others that natively live stream from Xbox and PlayStation) as if content creation should be equal on all platforms.
One of the questions I had for both supports “Why is that? Apparently PlayStation can live stream at 60fps” I had was and Xbox supports immediate response was “It's up to Twitch, you will need to check with them, because their App doesn't support 60fps” they went to say later on that “We have checked, and we'd like to inform you that The Xbox Twitch app does not include 60fps functionality as a standard feature. The feature is available but only via purchasable third party software ( Lightstream and Streamlabs Console which require a paid subscription.)” I asked if it could be updated in an “Xbox update” and they said “In the light of this we sincerely invite you to contact them to rise their awareness about this complication. That’s absolute, it can be updated”.
