Twitch category name collision
Currently two (or more) games with the exact same name (usually reboots) share the same category in Twitch. And all the cover art, description, tags are taken from only one of the games. This usually means that the other game(s) effectively completely lacks a page on twitch, despite being a completely different game and having unique gameplay. Can something be done about this?

There are two "Oni" categories now with the same name in search list:
1) old one for Bungie/Rockstar game from 2001 tagged as [Action / Shooter]
2) some new one without boxart and tagged as [Adventure Game / Action]
https://www.twitch.tv/search?term=oni&type=categoriesThe problem is that they also have the same link https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Oni and Bungie's game is no longer accessible. Due to this it's gone from Following/Categories list, because the new game "overlapped" the game from Bungie.

re1 and re2 have the originals and demakes mixed together in the same category. they're not the same games, not even similar. re3 has separate categories though because of the "nemesis" subtitle on the original. so the categories are mixed because of the identical titles? so why not slap a "remake" on there and call it good? the re1make is titled "resident evil hd remaster" on psn...
there's technically still both categories but when you click on one all streams from both are there.

The fact that it's missing is just embarassing.

I agree with the author that we need to split some of the categories so they represent games correctly, especially the Tomb Raider 1996 category. Currently two COMPLETELY different games ('96 and '13) are merged into one, causing ENORMOUS confusion and annoyance to anyone who is looking for streams playing those games. It is unacceptable that in 2022, over 10 years after twitch was launched, that the website still lacks proper categories to games that been here for quarter of a century and pretty much shaped whole genres.

I released a game in 2019 named Graviton, which is currently receiving some interest by speedrunners. However, there is a name collision with a 2021 game, also named Graviton, which all appear under the other game's category. Thus, the categories should be separated from each other, and if that is not possible, consider making the earlier released title take priority over the newer.

I would also like this as I stream TR1 1996 and people come into my stream expecting the reboot. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Classic example of this would be with World of Warcraft, not the only game but it seems to be the most relevant at the time. As there are different versions of the game that tailor to different viewers, we should have separate pages for what iteration of the game we are playing. Maybe having a game category listed as World of Warcraft Classic would be enough so that way we don't have to search for users playing a specific patch of the game. And maybe having an option to select what platform we are playing on to encourage viewers who want to play with the streamer rather than having it in the title. It's extremely difficult to search for someone who is playing Classic like me when I want to raid someone, or when I want to enjoy a stream for Classic WoW its hard to find those streamers. Having a different sub-category would be awesome. Thank you!

There is no way I will stream Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) in the Sonic The Hedgehog (1991) category. It's a mess just because Twitch doesn't make the effort to create a clearly identifiable stream category for Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and easily selectable with the right cover in the stream manager.

I don't understand that the games are OK in the IGDB but not on the Twitch Games DB. Maybe precising the year only for this kind of duplicates. Because under the same game category are both games. It can seem misleading for viewers.

There are some people that are holding the gun on my head and are forcing me to vote for this.
I personally wouldn't vote for this because RaC1 is terrible and PS4 is objectively a better casual game and speed game.
Average RaC1 fans are too greedy. They already have "Ginga * Saikyou Gorgeous Pack" and that's still not enough for them. They still want more. -

We're suffering from a similar case with Ratchet & Clank (2002) and Ratchet & Clank (2016). Voted on this, cause we get your struggle sonic players.
