Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

Dear Twitch, listen to the community for once. Keep moments and give them to all streamers.

As others have said, Moments don't compete with Featured clips, they compliment them! They should be further integrated with the Featured clips by having Moment clips automatically included in the list of Featured clips, with a Moments label to indicate that it's a high-profile featured clip, highlighting an amazing, well, moment.

Being part of a community that actively uses moments, for hilarious "moments" that happen during stream, has been so fun. I will be extremely sad if those instances can't happen anymore.

I don't think too many other things have become so iconic in Aura's stream than WHAT A MOMENT!
This feature only "failed" because Twitch failed to roll it out and iterate on it, doing the same thing so many people in tech fields do; Don't iterate and expand an idea. Create the idea, then move onto next idea. This feature already is so good and Pie lines out ways to develop it further. Honestly, it doesn't need to "compete" with featured clips. Why would moments not integrate directly into the feature system as it is?
Keep the system and put the work into making it more than it is, and most importantly get it in the hands of creators so you can actually see how it interacts with communities. As it stands next to nobody had access so nobody could use it or test it to begin with.

Personally I don't have access to moments as a streamer, but for the streams that do have them, they've very fun and a great way to engage with chatters. They should not be taken away and should be more accessible to us.

Moments really make it hype to witness a new accomplishment or special occurrence when watching a stream. Similar to looking forward to winning a bet you voted for and winning lots of stream points, it keeps viewers engaged!
It also helps the streamer by creating a special clip that is a highlight for their community and their content as a whole.
Please reconsider keeping moments!

As a Tier 5 Moments Badge holder, I can confirm that moments are absolutely huge stream value and increase viewer engagement. It's fun to rank your badge up and share in cool or fun moments with the community. Heck, if I have the stream on in the background and the streamer says the word "moment" in any context I subconsciously look over to see if something happened. Please don't get rid of this awesome feature.

Please reconsider, I enjoy this feature both as a viewer and as a streamer. The badges growing is something I really enjoy seeing, and it's such a cool concept. It may be "limited in use" because when only getting 5 per month, it makes them feel scarce and it's difficult to know when they should be used. There have definitely been times where, once it's a little too late, I've thought "I should have made a Moment out of that."
Please expand on this feature and make it better don't take it away. The concept is great.

Moments really make viewers want to stay engaged with the stream for the long haul and provides viewers with an opportunity to rep some bling that makes them feel special.

I love moments, both as a viewer and as a moderator. They're fantastic for community building, and also for creating a time capsule of sorts for each month of stream.
Scrapping a finished feature like this seems shortsighted, especially considering that this was in limited roll out, and not talked about much.

Moments are an amazing concept. For when something AMAZING happens in a stream, and you want it immortalized in more ways than just it being clipped. Moments get the chat so hyped up and when you get one, it makes that incredible moment even more special. But, I feel that it should have been rolled out to more channels as well so it could have had more use and a wider sample size to look at.
