Fix the constant disconnecting of chat.
Getting a constant "Welcome to the chat room" message and not being able to interact with my chat as well as any other streamers is getting old. This issue has been around for 7 years at the least. It should be fixed by now
i dont and will never ever use vpn or that kinda stuff but i do have the problem with twitch chat and it is annoying as beep. when streamers have chat on their overlay i see that chat moving but my chat isnt and then all of the sudden.. chat is trying to reconnect blah blah. i also did not change any configurations or what ever. it just happened all of the sudden.
@DemonCeelin For me it was a background NordVPN process that was active even after I had closed NordVPN. You could check the Details tab under the Task Manager.
Started having this issue this week. Nothing has changed about my computer or network setup and I am NOT using Nord or any other VPN while streaming. I was not having the problem before Tuesday but now it is constant. I'm certain it's not my ISP as my D/L is 350Mbps and my U/L is 12Mbps.
My brother and I have both been having this issue across multiple computers, browsers and the mobile app, tried all the usual stuff but still consistently getting the issue across all of them. The only way we can stay connected to any chat is to use the twitch mobile app, disconnect from the wifi and use mobile data
For me, it only happens on my PC (Firefox with Surfshark via wireguard). It never happens on my iPhone, iPad or Android TV (no VPN).
same problem here, when I am logged, after fullscreen I recieve "Welcome to the chat room!" and cannot see any messages. When I was not logged It worked perfectly.
This started to happened few days ago.
this has nothing to do with anyones ISP if you think that you're delusional.
we have two computers here and I disconnect every time I go to fullscreen, my roommate doesn't. obvsly we have the very same ISP.

I deactivated my Thread Protection from NordVPN and worked properly.
Make that nine years. plz Twitch fix chat.
Okay seriously, this is weird. I unplugged bot the router AND the modem once cause my friend told me it was the ISP and that helped, once. I've tried it again and it's not working. I dunno what's going on, but it's a fix that needs to happen sooner than later. Tired of missing out on chats.
it started happening to me too like 3-4 days ago, i tried clearing cookies/cache on chrome, tried incognito, tried firefox, tried chatterino but it happens on all of them, every ~10 minutes
i have integrated twitch on my local website https://upgrademystatus.com/ and am also facing this issue on my chat box welcome message shows many time that may creating disturbance during live stream i have also used vpn but didn't resolved.
Definitely NOT an ISP issue. I get this issue on my main computer, but not my laptop --- with both connected to the same twitch stream at the same time. (Watching a stream on my main desktop (hardwired) computer, got tired of the constant spam, so fired up the same stream on laptop -- no welcome spam there. Been happening on and off for a while now, usually only bothers me when I'm streaming, as I'm worried I miss viewer's chat.
Twitch is never gonna fix this LUL
VPN or not, adblocker or not, I still get the stupid "Welcome to the chat room!" message over and over again since it disconnects constantly.
This happens to me as well, but only on the small streamers. Is it twitch just not giving them enough resources so this keeps happening ? I thought it was just some automated message until i saw the streamers chat on the stream displaying messages that were not showing up in my chat and i had to refresh the page for chat to work until the next "Welcome to the chat room!" message appeared and F-ed the chat up again.
I should post my small update to this as of course it should still be a Twitch issue, but I mostly found it to be an issue with regards to NordVPN and have already talked with them about it and they are 'working on something' x).
As far as I've come to understand from other forums and such it only seems to happen with Nord and not the other VPN services so it must be a way Nord connects with Twitch and vise-versa.
If it is happening to you without a VPN it might be a firewall issue?
Additionally, I've noticed it doesn't happen most of the time when people are chatting in a room/stream, it usually only happens with long times of no chatters.
Therefore, at least from my perspective it had to be some type of refreshing issue / connection issue. But as I mentioned it doesn't happen for me anymore since I turn off my VPN most times when I stream now or watch other's streams.
Which yeah sucks and defeats the purpose, so I hope a fix is made soon (at least through my Nord VPN issue).
This isn't a router or ISP issue. This happens to me on nearly every channel I visit, regardless of the Internet connection or browser used. For me, this has been a thing for over a year now. I've done exhaustive troubleshooting to try and fix the issue.
I've used different browsers, no extensions, different routers, different ISP providers, different machines, phone and computer, and nothing changes the issue. I formatted and reinstalled both Windows 10 and macOS on two different machines and went to a friend's house to use their internet. The issue persisted.
I ditched my old ISP and got a new one, issue still persists. I bought a new modem/router, no change.
This happens even when I'm not chatting. I'll just be sitting in my own channel chat, not streaming, just to see what happens and I'll come back to endless "Welcome to the Chat Room!" messages.
In the meantime, I can use Chatterino. I have no issues there and can chat seamlessly without interruption or just lurk and chill without disconnect issues. The overall Twitch experience over the past few years have been really difficult to vibe with. It's sad and depressing, especially for those of us who spend a lot of time here making friends and building communities.
Please look into this and find the solution. It would improve quality of life for many people. The blanket "it's your ISP" and "you were spamming" responses saying nothing more than "we're not listening" and "we don't care."

It is not the ISP. I went from Cable via coax to a different provider with fiber, and I still have it.
Folks tell your ISP to send a tec out and test your signal strength. After years of the issue, once he found I had TOO MUCH signal come from the pole and fixed it, I never had the problem again.
