Moderation

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

  2. I moderate two twitch channels while I play along side the streamers that I moderate for and the community that I moderate. I use my android tablet to keep twitch chat open so I don't have to stop being a moderator while I'm full screen in game (I only have one monitor). It would be a massive help if there was a way to have the chat fill up the whole screen on my tablet instead of just a small portion, maybe with full mod mode features if possible.

  3. Making a moderation feature that allows channel owners to give permissions to each individual moderators. This feature will give certain moderators access to manage commands/other features that only editors could access before. for example twitch has An editor role and a moderator role that can manage the broadcasters channel, right? so by adding a tool that allows certain editor commands/abilities to each individual moderators would be helpful to the channel owner, this command would need to be authorized by the owner of a channel or a editor. similar to how discord servers work(server owner can give any member of the server…

  4. New accounts cannot because created with the word "grape" in it and will automatically trigger a red flag. I know this is nonsensical for some, but my name online has always had the word "Grape" in it because it is my last name. I'd love to create an account with the word "grape" in it. But apparently it's too close to word word "Rape" so it automatically won't let you put the word in your name.

  5. Allow broadcasters to ip ban viewers from their stream & no longer watch there stream. Also an option for broadcasters to set this permission for moderators if they are comfortable.

  6. The Problem:
Currently, the mod anniversary prompt operates on a strict timer. If you are hanging out in a streamer's offline chat and that timer runs out, the prompt disappears forever. This means mods have to either avoid in channels while offline, or constantly refresh to "save" the prompt until the streamer goes live.

    The Solution:
I would love to see this feature behave like subscriber anniversaries. The prompt should persist across page refreshes and future visits until the moderator either chooses to share it, or explicitly clicks an option to "dismiss/not share this anniversary." or the anniversary "expires"

  7. Recently, the role of Lead Moderator was introduced.

While it grants slightly more permissions, in my opinion, they're still not enough. For example, I still lack permission to edit channel points (rewards). I also can't edit the info panels. This begs the question...why? It would be great if this could be added for Lead Moderators.

  8. Now that mod view is on mobile they should add the feature for mods to swap in and out of mod view without having to leave the stream to go back to normal view as well as make all the mod commands work on mobile like /announce /poll and others and make it to were you can pin messages on mobile without needing to have a browser open same thing goes for channel point redemptions and predictions of course giving the mods the option to choose which ones they want on their as well as letting them click to see…

  9. Mods need to be able to raid, set stream titles, and unpublish VODs, not Editors.

These are functions concerning the management of a live stream, and have nothing to do with Video Editing.

If a streamer even has a Video Editor, they're not watching, or managing the streams, so they have no need to do these things.

Further, most streamers don't understand why a mod can't raid out, or change titles, or unpublish VODs if something happens and the channel might be at risk in the moment, while streaming.

And trying to explain why they need to grant "editor" privileges…

  10. "I want to bring a requirement for an account to become a channel moderator.

    • Requirement: minimum account creation time, for example, for someone to be able to add someone as a moderator on your channel, the account must be at least 7 days old, or even, you must follow the channel for 7 days if you want to be one moderator of this channel.

Every day there are people (with the account created on the same day and using VPN for sure) convincing new streamers to be moderators of their channel, and thus manage to trick the streamer and ban…

  11. Twitch affiliates have to verify their identity with a government issued ID and a face scan now when onboarding. I feel if an affiliate has completed this verification, this should clear the "phone verification" necessity in all chat since the account has been verified in an above and beyond way. Phone verification for non-affiliates and people who haven't completed onboarding is still fine, but I feel like this is unnecessary for those who have verified their ID. Please change this.

  12. When handling unban requests, we often think "ok you apologized, but your request was too soon regarding how long we estimate you should be banned"

I think having an option to set the end of the ban to a further date would help a lot. The interface could tell requesters that we have accepted their request and that they will be unbanned at the specified time

  13. Shield Mode should not be displayed without explaining that it clears chat. It should be locked into Mod View, not default channel view.

  15. Hello for whomever is reading this my account on May 26th-27th got experimented on by twitch with phone verification and I personally with no phone or phone number now can't get into my account to this day I've contacted twitch support and they didn't help me at all, this may be a pretty decent idea if everyone actually had a phone number but a lot of people in this world does not. If someone from twitch that can help me please reach out to me thank you and have a good day!

  16. I am suggesting an idea which would utilize having set up 2FA using a phone number to count for chat verification as well.
I was in a raid but when I got to the destination streamer I couldn't send messages in the chat even though I had followed that channel. I got a message saying that I couldn't chat because my account wasn't verified. I clicked on the little info icon, and it explained it and I was able to get into chat fine.
I was confused though, because I have had my Twitch account set up with 2FA using…

  17. Currently in Mod View, we can see the Users In Chat list under Channel Tools. If I want to inspect an individual User Card, I either filter or scroll down to their name, and I can click on it to pop up the User Card on top of the viewer list. From here I have the option to pop out the User Card to a separate window, but this resets the Users In Chat list to unfiltered and scrolled to the top. If I just close the User Card rather than popping it out, this also resets the Users In…

  18. There is already a suggestion to ban the word r*tard. I'd like to expand on that suggestion, however. Thinking objectively, there are many words and phrases that are technically against TOS for the same reason, yet they are still commonly used.

I am NOT insisting that all these words and phrases be barred from use. I am saying their regulation should be considered. Either that or their use should be explicitly permitted in TOS. The current situation does nothing to protect the streamers who could, at Twitch's discretion, be punished for using these words and it does nothing to protect…

  19. When mod view was first released, raids did not pull a moderator out of mod view.

While the user could choose to leave the raid, it may be best if the default behaviour was to not leave the current channel when a raid occurs while the user has mod view up as a moderator for the channel.

By carrying the moderator away with the raid, they lose chat and history from closing mod view, as well as any actions they had not completed. As mod view does not retain much information asynchronously (this has improved a bit), being pulled out…

  20. It would be fantastic if as a streamer, I can create canned responses for my mods to use in chat whenever someone violates the rules or has an FAQ. The benefits of this would be:

    • Saved time for my mods as they won't have to type out messages
    • Consistent messaging for my channel
    • Easier to bring on new mods and less of a learning curve

Let me know if anyone has any feedback!
