Add Ukrainian language
Ukraine has a ~40M population, of which, according to the last census, 67,5% consider Ukrainian their mother tongue.
Ukraine has a vibrant gaming community. Ukrainian eSports teams (go NaVi!) are some of the most successful and competitive in the world.
Valve added Ukrainian language option to Steam in 2013 and since then the number of Ukrainian Steam players (and Steam games that have a Ukrainian localization) has been steadily increasing. According to SteamSpy, as of June 2016 there were 3.7M Ukrainian players in Steam. (source: http://steamspy.com/country/UA )
Given the above mentioned arguments, we, the Ukrainian gaming community, ask of you Twitch & Amazon to add Ukrainian as one of the official languages in Twitch and allow Ukrainian language to be an official broadcasting language. We are ready to even translate everything ourselves (via Crowdin or other similar system) provided you give us such an option.
With kind regards,
Ukrainian gaming community
Thank you for raising this issue and sharing your feedback. We are in the process of rolling out a Beta version of Ukrainian localization across Twitch. Users who have their mobile devices set to Ukrainian should automatically see Twitch in Ukrainian once our roll out is 100% complete, and web users with their system language set to Ukrainian will also be able to experience our Beta version. We want to make the Twitch service accessible to as many people as possible, and localization is a part of that.
Once the rollout is finished, we will mark this issue as "Completed." Thank you.

Dear Twitch Support,
I’m writing to kindly request that you add a Ukrainian language option to the Twitch interface. Today, there are around 35 million Ukrainian speakers, and there is a strong demand for localization among my fellow citizens.
I deeply share your values and your vision that everyone should be able to use your service and feel part of a larger community. We already have a significant Twitch community — around 1.3 million people in Ukraine enjoy the platform and are waiting for localization. There are also Ukrainian-speaking creators who regularly rank among the top internationally in terms of live viewers. However, many potential users simply pass by Twitch because they don’t speak other languages and find the interface difficult to understand. I believe this is a great opportunity to increase the daily number of active users.
There is another important context behind this request — the ongoing war. I don’t want to exploit this topic to provoke pity. I’ll just say this: right now, Ukraine is facing genocidal aggression from Russia, including in the information war. This means that the Russian government is investing violence and money into trying to erase Ukrainian identity. This is also a war on language. Internationally, they do everything they can to portray Ukrainian as just a dialect of Russian and Ukraine as merely a Russian-speaking region that doesn’t need its own localization on platforms like Twitch or in video games. Inside our country, the situation is far more brutal — on the occupied territories, they burn Ukrainian books, re-educate children into Russian in schools, and destroy memorials and monuments written in Ukrainian.
I understand why the Twitch interface is available in Russian but not in Ukrainian — I suppose it’s due to statistical popularity. But you now have the opportunity to take a conscious stand and support a culture that is under immense pressure and violence. You can show that you support diversity and oppose xenophobia. This would be an incredible gesture for Twitch’s reputation and a tremendous help to the Ukrainian people, who are already using Twitch to connect, support each other, and raise funds for charity. That’s why I deeply value what you do and am already sincerely grateful.
If you might not currently have internal resources for localization, i’m ready to help organize a professional translation. The Ukrainian community could raise funds to pay for this work, or even donate directly to Twitch. Please consider the different options and let me know if there’s any way to move this important issue forward.

Please consider adding Ukrainian as a language option for the Twitch interface. There is a growing Ukrainian-speaking community on the platform, and this change would help users feel more included and comfortable.
