Make a Feature to Officially Tip Mods
It's high time Twitch seriously considers implementing a native feature that allows popular and large stream hosts to see who's clocking the most time in their chats and directly tip their channel moderators who put in a lot of work for their streams.
This isn't just about charity or a "nice-to-have"; it's a strategic move that benefits streamers, moderators, and the platform as a whole.
Here's why Twitch should make this a reality:
- Elevating the Role of Moderators: From Volunteers to Valued Team Members.
Currently, the vast majority of Twitch moderators are unpaid volunteers. While many are passionate fans happy to contribute, the reality is that moderation, especially for larger channels, is a demanding and often stressful job.
They are the frontline defense against toxicity, spam, harassment, and rule-breaking. They actively cultivate positive chat environments, answer viewer questions, and effectively extend the streamer's presence into the community.
By enabling direct payment/tipping,(chosen by the host and liable to be changed as they see fit,) Twitch would formally acknowledge the critical, often unseen, labor moderators perform.
This shift in recognition is crucial for attracting and retaining high-quality moderators.
