Remove mid-roll ads
Cancel the testing of mid-roll ads on affiliate and partner channels. Your viewer base doesn't want this and creators don't want ads playing out of their control interrupting their content
As we announced on Twitter earlier, we have concluded the mid-rolls experiment. Thank you all for your comments and the incredible momentum you’ve contributed to this topic.
There have been many great suggestions, both in this thread and in the Ads forum that we have taken back to the team for consideration. It’s important to know that ads are essential to the future of Twitch, however we want to make things as painless as possible. Please still upvote, share, comment, and create new ideas in this forum so that we may continue to benefit from all of your passionate influence.

We small Creators can never become big Creators, if our channels fail. And these ads WILL cause us to fail (at least here on Twitch).

Remove mid roll ads. This will ruin the experience. No need for ads to interrupt. Totally fine with ads on streams I'm not subscribed to when I enter...but streams are an immersive experience so no mid roll ads.

Over all this is a very bad idea. Mid-Roll ads would kill my overall experience on Twitch. Let the streamers decide if and when to place an advert.

Don’t come at us with “this is fine because picture by picture is enabled” it is not fine and Picture by picture is not a solution. First picture by picture is not available to all viewers (doesn’t work on tv or on cast) second, it doesn’t solve the audio. If a streamer is answering or asking a question, even if you can see them in picture by picture, you can’t hear them, because the ad is playing. (Also the ads are still WAY too loud). Also this doesn’t take into account mods who cannot always maintain subscriptions to every channel they mod or support, many sub in rotation to support all their channels, but if they happen not to currently have a sub this could disrupt communication between a mod and a streamer, and result in negative community interaction. If more ads need to happen a better solution would be to:
1. Actually fix ads for bits, and further incentivize ads for bits. People voluntarily watching ads is better.
2. Incentivize streamers to run mid roll ads during breaks So the entire community is watching an ad
3. Fix picture by picture, make it work for everyone, make the streamer the bigger part of the screen, and run no volume ads so the audio stays with the streamer. -

Such an awful idea, please remove it twitch. You’re ruining the experience for our viewers. Imagine all those moments that can be ruined by an advert. Just killed a boss and your so hype, oh no nevermind here’s an ad.....enjoy missing emotional scenes, punchlines of jokes, rage moments and more. All those things that make streams so fun to watch can be ruined by this. Stop, don’t do it.

It's time we stopped treating live streaming and pre-recorded/edited video the same way. When you watch a video and get an ad in the middle, the rest of the video is still gonna be there. But, when live streaming, it's over and done with.

The Feature of mid-roll ads would kill the experience of live streaming.
Think about this: Streamer is doing something really funny, interessting or even something "UNBELIEVABLE" but you as a Viewer just had a short AD been slamming into your face. Whole Chat goes nuts and you just missed this moment. Currently a lot of Streamers in Germany disabled the Clip function since it could be abused to force bans on streamers because person X doesn't like the streamer but noone cared for 2-3 years. Combine it with the "FOMO" while "JUST A SMOL AD HERE" was playing. Not a great Idea at all.
Rethink your whole Operational doing & do not introduce more chaos to the users. Ty. -

We don't make much off of ads in the first place, so why force us into using something that we barely receive pennies on? Let the streamer control if they will use ad rolls or not.

Bounce rate is high enough with pre-roll ads, sitting around 30%. That means approximately 3 out of every 10 new viewers visiting a channel will leave when they're forced to sit through an ad even before getting to watch the streamer. Adding involuntary mid-rolls would be catastrophically worse for small channels, as new viewers would likely leave when they are suddenly and inexplicably fed an ad in the MIDDLE of the stream. Viewers will be further incentivised to stick to their subscribed channels, and avoid new channels.
I have no doubt in my mind that this decision is a wholly corporate one, centered around greed, squeezing every penny out of the platform they can. Streamers will be forced to run regular ad breaks in order to combat this new tactic, or ads will be run FOR them at inopportune times, BOTH OF WHICH will drive viewers away.
Honestly? Get rid of all ads. They're invasive, they're disruptive, they're annoying, and they're a cheap money-grabbing tactic. Come up with more unique ways to monetize the platform. Stand out as "The Ad-Free Streaming Platform" and give your viewers unique, fun ways to both support their favorite streams, and give Twitch their money. Besides, you're not exactly hurting for cash. You're owned by AMAZON for Pete's sake, it's not like Twitch is a small start-up. Quit trying to ruin the streaming experience just to line your pockets.

Although people want to argue against this, I’m sorry but you’re wrong. Small streamers breath through new viewers, not subs and donos. This will make things harder for just starting out affiliates and I’m in that category. If you’re going to do this make this an option, not a finite feature. Please read this FEEDBACK Twitch.

I know some people that would appreciate this feature, but allow us streamers the option to disable the feature for our streams

If you really want to be pushing ads, give creators an incentive to actually use the ad button.

Please reconsider the automated mid-roll ads, as it might make us miss content. Allow streamers to set their own adds

Let the streamers decide when to play and who to give the ads two.
