LEAVE GENERATIVE AI TRAINING OFF BY DEAFULT, OR BETTER YET DONT TRAIN AI OFF OF STREAMS.

What I’m also wondering is: who can guarantee that my data isn’t being used secretly after all, and that this ‘off’ function is merely for show? ‘Once a liar, always a liar’, and anyone who goes behind people’s backs to pull off such underhand tricks without the user’s consent shouldn’t be surprised if they’re called a lying b*st*rd. That’s exactly what I think of Twitch these days!

1. It is absolutely outrageous that users are not informed that their data is being used! I’ve gone through all my emails and haven’t found a single mention of this misuse!
2. The fact that this feature is switched on as a matter of course without informing the user is an absolute no-go!
3. Not only are the adverts placed by Twitch becoming increasingly excessive and intrusive, but now our data is also being misused without asking to feed this bloody AI rubbish! I could throw up!Twitch is increasingly becoming a rip-off, dishonest, fraudulent site. I’ll make sure that this is investigated and stopped by the law, at least in Switzerland. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Yup, this was a real scumbag move from twitch and every member of staff that just stayed quiet and went ahead with it needs to have a long look in the mirror.
They wont change it, they wont improve it or how its communicated. They might do "pretend" steps as they've done in the past but the damage is already done.Very cool to see that transparency and communication are not on Twitch's MO even a litte bit. Next time they as much as think about using those words, I'll be sure to remind them of this.
This wasn't an accident, not an oopsie. It was a very deliberate and purposeful move. Every step of it calculated. Never let them forget that the moment they try to spin their usual stupid, probably AI generated PR speech.

Dear Twitch, I use your platform to watch a lot of different streamers. I will ABANDON this platform, as will lots of other people I know, if you keep shoving AI down our throats.

This should've been a no-brainer. But of course, Twitch staff are really stupid as always.

here’s an idea: make a mobile app that f*cking works. focus on that instead of doing whatever predatory GARBAGE you’re doing with it.

If this generative ai slop is going to be forced on by default please make finding the setting to opt out easy and simple to find so we don’t have to spend ten minutes to turn off this useless system that will only hurt the community and ruin the experience of twitch as a whole

Defaulting to opt in by default and only being able to opt out of some of the training is not a good idea for several reasons. 1) this taints public perception of the brand as ai is increasingly a negative concept and regarded as slop or stealing of content or identity. 2) you already are doing safe guards to opt out by default in European Economic Areas where EU regulations state you can not opt in by default.
This is just a bad idea and should be opted out of all training for all streamers and viewers by default and if you really want some positive, incentive people to opt in if you are going to steal their content.

It is baffling to me that this conversation even needs to be had. "If we made it opt in, nobody would opt in," THEN WHY ARE YOU INVESTING SO MUCH IN THIS?
They know they're wasting time, money, and effort all while alienating and openly disrespecting their user base for nothing. WHO THE **** IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BENEFIT?
To **** with this place.

The disconnect shown by Twitch staff today shows that no matter how much uproar there is in regards to forcing immediate opt-ins to try and make money (out of a poorly understood and overhyped product), the executives will assume they have all authority to make decisions on others' behalf without any consultation whatsoever.
Also discovered that it defaults upon reloading settings, as another Twitch user confirmed. GG twitch /sarcastic

Adding my agreement here. I want to express and implore that Twitch reevaluate how they proceed with the training Generative AI feature. While I am aware that my voice is just a drop in the ocean of people speaking against Generative AI, it is my and many others opinion that Generative AI training should be an opt-in feature, not opt-out.
Please adjust your settings for this to reflect a change. People should not unknowingly be allowing this to go forward and having their content used to train Generative AI, simply because they were opted into the feature without their knowledge.
Please instead make it so that people are by default opted out, and become opted in if they want to.
It is concerning that the opposite was done in this case, and a reflection of the self awareness that without forcing people to opt in, there would be significantly less contribution to the AI training due to the lack of individuals who are willing to go forward with it. The current set up is preying on individual's lack of awareness and being uninformed of the feature. -

While I doubt Twitch (or Amazon for this matter) would read ANY comment on this thread, as made very clear duringthe stream earlier, I still feel the need to support this Suggestion, which should not even have needed to be a suggestion.
By acknowledging the community's massive pushback, negative feeback on the subject in their earlier phases, they still went ahead, essentially telling their community our voices are to be ignored. yet I have the hope at some point this wave of criticism will turn into a tsunami they can't ignore any longer and will force them to act for the better of their community.

Generative AI does not deserve a place in society. Especially when users are not consenting to the use of our data and chats for the benefit of generative AI.
