1. Appletv

   The new update - March 3 2023 - has so many downgrades! There are some issues that I was hoping to be addressed, but instead we got more problems.

   1) Not being able not see more than the top 25 Live Followed Channels is a big problem. There are a lot of new and growing streamers I follow, support and moderate that are getting zero visibility with this new update.

   2) Not being able to chat from the tv, and instead being sent to a QR code that connects to the mobile app stops the ability of people participating directly from their tv. I multiscreen watch lots of streamers at the same time, and this stops me from contributing to the one on the tv now, which is unfair.

   3) The chat has become harder to read. The font is smaller and not as legible. ALSO, most chatters names now show up as just white, which makes following the chat much harder than it was in the past.

   4) When someone donates bits, it shows up half the time as the emote and half the time as the lettered bit emote name (no emote image), which is silly.

   5) We still can’t follow a raid, which was taken away during the last update, which is counterproductive to growing twitch and other channels. I figured that would be changed in the update, but it’s still gone.

   6) The lack of animated emotes in the chat bar should have been addressed after all this time as well, but the chat visibility and functionality on the appletv app has slipped even farther behind as opposed to ahead to reflect the growth twitch has been making.

   I’m sure there are other glitches I just haven’t come upon yet, but I’m sure I’m not alone with these complaints and suggestions.

3. Please make some major updates or bring back the old version of the Apple TV app

   The new version of the Apple TV app is not at all user friendly. It lags, is difficult to navigate, and is not customized to me as a viewer the way the old version was. There is no option on my home page anymore for “recently viewed” VODs that I may want to continue watching. Instead now my home page is filled with suggested streamers I couldn’t care less about and I need to navigate all the way over to my followed streamers to get back to a VOD I was previously watching. Also there is no option as a viewer to see or hide the chat playback of a VOD which, in my option, is one of the best parts of watching a VOD on Twitch. It’s so frustrating that I don’t even have that option now as a viewer if I want it. Please please please make these changes and/or bring back the old app. I watch about 90% of streams on my Apple TV but now every time I turn it on these changes just anger me and make me not want to use it.

5. VOD Playback Severely Broken - Unusable / Unbearable

   The Apple TV app does not work on tvOS 17.0 recently released. When watching a VOD, the video will suddenly go all black but the sound will continue playing. Momentarily pausing playback briefly gets rid of the black screen. The issue will return. Restarting Apple TV, TV, or the app does not fix the issue.

   Currently, the Apple TV app’s use is unbearable when it comes with watching VODs.

   Please address this.

8. QR Code now required to chat on AppleTV

   Why remove any ability for users to chat directly via an AppleTV, and enforce QR codes on TV screen to be scanned just to “Join The Conversation” in chat on an entirely different device, and needing Twitch app to be installed to only open Chat-only Mode for same stream; when, chat window is already open and ready to be used on AppleTV via Twitch (tvOS) app.

   An AppleTV remote can already use Siri/buttons to talk/type; plus, an iPhone can also sync with an AppleTV to be used as remote control without having to even have Twitch (iOS) app open at all.

   Chat-Only Mode on Twitch (iOS) app also needs to maximise screen space and/or have the ability for chat window to enter fullscreen-mode, as top portion of screen is wasted by having dedicated window for stream not being used at all in chat-only mode.

   Twitch (tvOS) App (11.0.2)

10. AppleTV app barely functions. Video goes black. Buggy seek bar.

    Apple TV app is so busted

    Ever since they updated the Apple TV app a few months back, it is completely broken. Most streams turn black constantly and you can’t see anything. It happens every 30 seconds. The only way to fix it is to reload the stream, play/pause, or wait another 30 seconds and hope it resolves.

    On top of this, the seek bar is buggy as heck and sometimes doesn’t even disappear. Pressing the menu button doesn’t hide the seek bar either. It closes the stream.

    There is no longer any chat on VODs and you can’t chat during a live stream either you just have to scan a QR code and load it on your phone. Ok fine but Frequently I will get stuck on the QR code and have to force quit the app and restart it since you cannot close the dialog.

    This update ruined the app. It’s annoying enough that I just watch VODs on YouTube a few days later instead of using Twitch.

11. Please allow more than the top 25 streams we follow to load under the following section of the updated app (3-2-2023)

    The latest updated (3-2-2023) to the AppleTV only shows the top 25 streams we follow even when viewing the Following section of the app. So we are unable to see all the streamers we follow that are live with lower viewer counts which doesn’t seem fair, to those streamers with lower viewer counts, as they will not show up as being live unless specifically searching for them.

12. Hire a new development team

    It's pretty clear the current teams responsible for all of these app developments are failing miserably at their job. These apps have been broken for years. In the instance of AppleTV the new app updates did nothing to address the real issues people have been complaining about on this forum. I'm proposing a WILD idea of letting this incompetent department go, and outsourcing to an agency that's actually capable.

    The reality is this isn't difficult work, in fact it's VERY straight forward stuff.
    UX design is SIMPLE.
    Coding is SIMPLE.
    Adhering to device architecture is SIMPLE.
    Letting go of incompetent workers is SIMPLE.

    With the right teams all of these issues could be solved within a few weeks time. I work with several agencies that are more than capable of doing this work and I can even put you in contact with them.

14. Improve back press behaviour during playback

    The current behavior when pressing back during playback is bad. It just closes the content immediately, regardless of whether the player overlay is visible or not.

    For usability to prevent accidentally closing the content, during playback the stream/VoD should only be closed when pressing back twice in a row, so:
    - If playback overlay is visible, pressing back once should hide the overlay, pressing back again should close content. This is what the native AppleTV+ app does.
    - If playback overlay is hidden, pressing back once should show the overlay, pressing back again should close content

    The current behavior is annoying because I normally only use the player overlay to fast forward, and I press back once I'm done to continue watching the VoD and want to get rid of the overlay I'm not using anymore. Also, because of the black screen bug. I have to press pause and play to get the video back, which shows the overlay, and I keep closing the VoD when trying to dismiss it.

15. Raid Trains Shouldn't Fail on AppleTV

    I have a PC and AppleTV in the same room. 100% of the time, Raids will fail to move channels on the AppleTV. Please investigate so AppleTV will follow a Raid to the raided channel and not leave us abandoned on the original channel. I think this is why we are seeing so many incomplete raids and hosts are trying to send Raid 'shuttles' when they notice only 95% of their viewership correctly raided over to the new channel.

    Look. It’s 2023. Why the heck do we not have captions on the AppleTV app?

    I have to stream from my phone, which is annoying, and if I’m not home, no one else can do it.

    Support closed captions on Apple TV. Okay?

    Your recent update to the TV apps seems to have removed the 'continue watching' section and also the ability to browse past a few days of past broadcasts from streamers. I would recommend bringing these back as for a lot of us we cannot watch live and so catch up on VODs and also like the ability to go back to video's that we have not completed yet. With the apps the way they are now I do not find them usable.

18. Add 1440p resolution playback to Apple TV app

    Please add the ability to watch 1440p streams to Apple TV's app.

    The other day a stream was going at 1440p@60, and was able to watch at this resolution on the iPhone app, iPad app and PC browsers. The highest resolution offered from the Apple TV app was 720p.

    It's not a device capability issue, as the TV and Apple TV device can play at 4K@60 no issues. YouTube videos and live streams can play at 1440p@60 without issue.

20. Apple TV voice controls

    Apple TV has voice controls where you can say to Siri to play/pause or rewind/ fast forward “x” amount of time, if I say these controls to Siri whilst watching twitch VODs Siri just says there’s nothing playing I would be great if this was a feature!
