ICE
Creators On Twitch should be Able to Opt-Out of ICE Recruitment Ads.
Many of our communities are comprised of people actively being harmed by ICE Policies and Actions Under Trump. There are already creators saying they'll leave Twitch, or use Ad-Blockers More which will harm the platform as a whole (both in revenue and viewership).
This principle should also apply to Military, or any Government Recruitment; saying this as a Military Veteran myself, with members of my community also being veterans.
I Feel We should be allowed to deny Advertisements for ICE, who are committing violent extra-judicial and unconstitutional actions against US Citizens and Legal Immigrants in America.
We should have the right to refuse government recruitment advertisements on our content, as an citizens with a right to free speech, and to protest actions taken by government bodies.
Hi @Reneta_Scian. We appreciate you raising this concern. Claims that ICE runs ads on Twitch are untrue, and no one has approached us to run ads. There are no plans for any advertising campaigns for ICE.

Along with gambling, this sort of advertising does not vibe with me, or my audience. I'm trying to create a safe space for my audience, and ads like this will make them feel unsafe and uncomfortable. If I have to label my stream as having content recommended for certain audiences, I should be able to choose what ads run.

How can you foster a safe place for your viewership when they are bombarded with ads recruiting for a military, police, or other government agency that is actively harming some members of the community? Its baffling Twitch allows this.

I mentioned this in the military recruitment ads discussion, but it's just as true here: it's vital to implement this in order to reduce the likelihood of streamers being harassed for matters outside their control. Even if you think the existence of ICE is necessary (which I don't, but that's another argument that plenty of folks have already taken up), I would hope that sort of harassment isn't something you'd support.

Who would even want to run such a horrific ad? Who would want to advertise a terrorist cell? Anyone who would is a traitor to humanity!

My partner and I created our channel to be a safe place for all. We are loudly against ICE and everything it stands for, and the very notion of an advertisement running on my channel that promotes a blatant disregard for civil liberties, or even just plain old human decency, makes me so angry I could spit. We should have the freedom to opt out of ads we feel are offensive or dangerous to our viewers.

At the bare minimum, creators should be able to opt out of ads that they find morally reprehensible.
But generally speaking, Twitch should not be deriving ad revenue from state-sponsored terrorist organizations in the first place. ICE should not be exempt from this. -

So being part of a minority and talking about it is CONTROVERSIAL, but getting money from a fascist military group isnt? Make it make sense, I really don't feel like it's a good idea to stream on twitch anymore if things stay like this.

Considering we have to label our streams for specific content and controversial topics, we should also be able to control who can advertise on our channels, ESPECIALLY if they fall into those categories.
At the very least, allow users to flag controversial advertisers and military/government recruitment so that others can filter out ads from these advertisers. -

If we have to signal when we're discussing controversial topics, then stop taking money from the subjects of those controversial topics and forcing them on our viewers.

Especially considering we as the content creators already have such limited control of ads being placed on our content, being forced to have politically motivated ads on our content in any way, shape, or form is unacceptable. I would be just as appalled by any political party's ads as I am about this, but this is exceptionally grievous considering the active harm ICE is currently wreaking here in the USA.

Ads supporting facism and the erosion of civil liberties shouldn't be allowed on the platform in any way, but the very VERY least twitch can do is allow streamers to opt out of this.
The damage done by forcing streamers to be complicit with the militarised destruction of america will be immense, and the platform will see a huge reduction in content creation and traffic as a result.
Do not underestimate us. Gamers as a demographic lean predominantly left, and this constant inching into bed with the far right will alienate what's left of your user base until you're nothing more than kick.

I do not align with ICE and the terror they and the government are unleashing. I do not support their movement and do not consent to their ads on my streams.

The idea of Twitch running ads for a government agency that abducts and deports people extra-judicially is deeply unsettling. I have never used an adblocker on Twitch, but if I start seeing ads for ICE on the platform, I definitely will.
You should not accept ads from ICE to begin with, but at the very least, you should allow creators the opportunity to opt out of showing them on their channels.
Thank you.

Do not display ICE ads on my channel. We do not bow to facists, and I know my community will find ways around it. That just hurts us all

Any kind of ad from ICE has no place on Twitch. If they have to stay, we deserve the right to opt out and not run them if we want to. I know I’m not the only one who thinks this.

Twitch, if you’re going to force us to play ads while it barely makes us any money but is a huge pain **********, at least choose those ads well.
Or let streamers choose which kind of ads they want to support.Advertisers get to decide which channel to put their ads on for maximum reach and optimization, but streamers don’t get to pick which ads are ok on our channels? It’s so obvious by now you don’t actually care about streamers, but only the money they’ll get you through ads and unfair subscription share.
Being able to fully disable ads, at the cost of what little money it gets us, or to filter by ad content is long overdue. Get on it or suffer the consequences of neglecting the huge base that maybe doesn’t get you much revenue, but gets you lots of reach.

I too will raise my voice and say that being able to filter advertisements by a few basic categories is a feature long overdue on Twitch. I don't want to see ads attempting to recruit people into authoritarian activities or other forms of oppression and harm, nor offer such ads to my viewers.

ANY sort of recruitment ad should have ZERO place on Twitch. Period.

Ideally Twitch shouldn't be running ICE recruiting ads at all, but if it's going to, then streamers should absolutely have the option to opt out.
