Creators On Twitch should be Able to Opt-Out of ICE Recruitment Ads.

Many of our communities are comprised of people actively being harmed by ICE Policies and Actions Under Trump. There are already creators saying they'll leave Twitch, or use Ad-Blockers More which will harm the platform as a whole (both in revenue and viewership).

This principle should also apply to Military, or any Government Recruitment; saying this as a Military Veteran myself, with members of my community also being veterans.

I Feel We should be allowed to deny Advertisements for ICE, who are committing violent extra-judicial and unconstitutional actions against US Citizens and Legal Immigrants in America.

We should have the right to refuse government recruitment advertisements on our content, as an citizens with a right to free speech, and to protest actions taken by government bodies.

Hi @Reneta_Scian. We appreciate you raising this concern. Claims that ICE runs ads on Twitch are untrue, and no one has approached us to run ads. There are no plans for any advertising campaigns for ICE.

    Propaganda ads from any "party" or organization are repulsive and not something I want to see. Sell me your product, your services, your ****** horror movies with bloody gory ads, do NOT feed me anything recruitment. Do better, Twitch.

    As someone who is half Puerto Rican, I Don't want my channel to be used as an advertisement for corruption and propaganda. ICE has done nothing but kidnap people for God knows how long now. And they're still kidnapping people at this moment. We should have the option to have control over what ads play on our streams, I refuse to let the government decide that for me.

    I have always championed that content creators should have more control over what ads we play. Even if it's just vague categories we select, instead of just letting whatever random ads play.

    I am not here to help promote recruitment for violence and oppression against people that have rights WHETHER OR NOT they are official citizens of this country.

    Get rid of the ICE ads, you complicit cowards, and STAND AGAINST FASCISM.

    i, personally, don't think a nazi police force should be allowed to advertise on this platform. i thought we valued diversity, but twitch chooses to advertise the people trying to kidnap and kill us. okay, twitch.

    Should definitely at least have control over the types of ads allowed to be shown on our channels. Especially when it's propaganda slop. I didn't even want predatory military recruitment ads showing up, let alone anything ICE related.

    Even beyond this issue, I know several family friendly channels who have had viewers state they get inappropriate ads showing up. The ad system needs a lot more control on both the side of Twitch in terms of vetting, as well as more control for the people you're making your money off of.

    A majority of the viewers on Twitch are 16-24. I believe it's one thing to allow ads for games and places on the channel. It's another entirely to have military recruitment ads on a platform for UNDERAGE viewers. Especially for a branch that ruins the lives of innocent people and does so in the scummiest fashion that they can't be reprimanded. You know, assuming that they ARE actually part of ICE and not just racists.
    Even beat cops have to wear their badge and uniform on duty.

    I am deeply uncomfortable with the idea of ICE ads showing on my stream. I want my community to be a place where everyone is welcome and can feel safe. These disgusting ads guarantee that people will feel unsafe.

    It's especially unfair and cowardly to put this on the streamer. You know that it looks like the streamer is to blame here.

    Just gross.

    An absolutely heinous decision on Twitch’s part. Allowing these ads at all shows that you don’t care about your userbase, especially the most vulnerable communities. Aligning with the American Gestapo will forever stain your reputation, and many users will leave the platform (and decrease your revenue - the only thing you care about).
