Designated category for Creative Writing and related content
Ranging from writing and discussing novels, to poetry, scripts, comics, article editing, tabletop campaign planning, world creation, etc. There are a wide array of people doing various forms of creative writing on twitch, (Counted 53 channels so far, still working on finding more) and often it's hard to decide between "Creative" "Art" or "Just Chatting". Currently all we have to search for similar content is the "Writing" tag, which some of the broader definitions are hesitant to use, and is also used by people writing computer code, which is honestly a very different type of content despite it's visual similarities.
A category for this would seriously help us to find content and be found by the wider community of storytelling or wordsmithing fans that use twitch, as well as make it easier for twitches algorithm to identify what we watch. (I am often recommended visual art streams because I watch a lot of writers that use the art category, but never recommended any writing channels, and others I have spoken to experience the same)

The indie game category is still very much a thing (I use it, for example). But I still hope, we'll get our own category...

One of the comments said that they where trying to get all writers under indie game "Writers", is that still a thing?
I hope I,m using this right.

I want to start working on my novels on Twitch and build my community that way. We need this to be a category badly.

Reminder to all: We have been trying to get writing streamers to unite under the category for the indie game "Writers" to put us all in one easy to find place and make it clearer to Twitch how many of us there are and that we do get viewers

If Writing becomes its own category it will help those who wish to share writing content and those looking to be interactive with creators and teachers.

The discoverability of writing streams as both a streamer and a viewer makes is currently very lacking, with us writers using several different tags that may or may not apply to us. A dedicated category and specific key phrases specifically for creative writing would make things more streamlined.

As a writer, I find it so awkward to find other writers at the end of some of my streams because of how disjointed it is at times to find people accross the categories we find ourselves scattered.

Yes to a proper Writing Category on Twitch! There are podcast, just chatting and art categories, why not Writing!?

I would love a way to filter out writing streams. Also a clear category to pick when streaming myself.

I love the writing community on twitch, but our own catagory!! I feel like this should've already been a thing.

creative writing and world building is pretty much the main thing i watch anyway(other than direct friends), would be nice to have a good way to find more!

Twitch has already noticed they are more than just a gaming platform with the advent of the Art category, but as anyone with a contact with art would be able to tell: Art is a too general term, as such, a Writing/Creative Writing (or similar) would be an excellent addition to the categories (and maybe others, but that is another discussion lol).

This would be great for those that participate in NaNoWriMo and Camp July/April NaNoWriMo events throughout the year or other writing related events.

Would love to see book lovers interact more with gamers and other creatives. Twitch is the perfect venue for some really fruitful exchanges of ideas.

Can't believe we are up to 6 pages of comments now... I just want to thank everyone that has voted and commented so far. Keep them rolling in and twitch should eventually hear us

I write fantasy novels for living. Getting a category that properly promotes that line of content creation would be greatly appreciated. It hurts me to see most of the creators on Twitch in Art because Writing is a joke.

This is a response to the comment below, about tags. #Writing *is* already a tag on Twitch, but it is HIGHLY misused. Most streams under the #writing tag have nothing to do with writing at all, creative or otherwise. I have rarely been able to find a fellow writer using the tag system. I also find that the tag system is rarely used as a way to *search* for streams to begin with, and is more of a list of common interests (nationality, language, sexual orientation, etc) and stream caveats at the time (no backseating, casual playthrough, etc) to draw you in. They give you an idea of what to expect, but not necessarily what to look for.
A proper Creative Writing Category would cut down on the issue of tag misuse, and give people a better chance at finding streams actually catering to writing. I've been streaming my writing weekly for almost a year now, under Art, and using the #writing and #original-work tags, and the connections I've made with other writers on Twitch has been coincidental at best, unfortunately. I would love to be able to explore other streams and expand my communities more thoughtfully, rather than stumble across others among several other categories.

I think this would be better suited as a tag

Would be happy if it was "Creative Writing and Publishing" so that editors and other publishing professionals could also be found by writers and others in the writing community that would want to watch their streams and engage with each other. But agree it is long overdue.

This is a category that has long been OVERDUE!! As a new writer (working on an old story I wrote many years ago), it would be *nice* to specifically use "creative writing" vs the "let's do the writing thing" I had to use recently. "Just Chatting" is fine, **IF** you are "just chatting ABOUT something you did. It really should not be used for a writing stream.
