Trans tag request
It is hard enough finding trans representation in our daily lives. With the LGBTQIA+ tag, one still needs to browse through channels and spend time in them to find trans streamers. A "trans" tag would help people searching for these communities.
Today we are rolling out 350+ tags, including the transgender tag, to provide you with more options on how you express yourself and your content, so that you can more easily connect with one another and build wonderful communities. We are really appreciative for all of the feedback around this topic (and other related suggestions).
We previously told you that we had a better solution to this request than adding the tag, and we were wrong. This has been one of the most popular requests we’ve heard, and the simple truth is that we should have done this sooner. In an effort to think carefully about how to best address this, we only made the situation more difficult. Again, thank you for helping us throughout this process in reevaluating our stance.
Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice, as well as any suggestions for additional tags you feel we may have missed! We are working to invest more into this forum and aim to have faster communications in the future.
Please check out our blog post for more info: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/

Yesterday someone in my community came out to me as trans, and explained they didn't even know where to go for help. They hadn't even heard of The Trevor Project or any of the programs out there to help them deal with this turbulent time of their life. I am not trans myself, and even though I am ******** and part of the LGBTQ+ community, I absolutely 100% cannot relate to the journey they are on. PEOPLE LIKE THIS IS WHY WE NEED A TRANS TAG. Imagine if I could easily lead this person to a streamer and community who knows EXACTLY what they are going through?
Are there concerns over bullying from using the tag? Sure, but guess what...I get trolled on Twitch using the LGBTQ+ tag already. I still choose to use it. That's the beautiful part...our Trans community members can CHOOSE to use it or CHOOSE not to. But the ones that do? They may literally save lives simply by being on the screen and found so easily. Please just do it already.
PLEASE.

Just how many votes is it going to take before they finally decide it's worth spending two minutes adding something?

For real though, what are we waiting for?

If Twitch wants to support the creation of communities, it needs to add this tag. There are far too many people out there looking for a place to belong, especially during and after a transition. This is so important to spread awareness, acceptance, and a home for our THOUSANDS of trans streamers and viewers. Uplift this community.

I voted last year but doing it AGAIN! cause WE need this tag, let trans get a voice on twitch, let them find others and a safe place to grow. Transtag now <3

Voted months ago but here I am commenting again. Time and time again members of the Trans community told Twitch what they need to better find each other on the platform and the tag is literally the least thing that can be done. I won't stop commenting until we get word from Twitch that they're actually listening to trans voices and giving what they so desperately need; an easier way to cultivate a community.

We need this.
Signed all trans and nonbinary people on Twitch.

We NEED it. It's absolutely that the MOST marginalize community doesn't have their own tag so viewers can easily support them. Even within our LGBTQIA community, there's sooo much trans hate. Making our trans fam more visible and elevating them is wayyy past due

March will make TWO YEARS since this idea was floated. It's ridiculous that Twitch can ban certain words or create a rotating emote within a few hours, but they drag their heels when it comes to doing something that the majority of the community has been asking for.

As an Iraq war veteran who served during ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’, I know what it is like to be forced to stay silent about who I am; that kind of silencing shouldn’t be allowed on one of the most open & understanding spaces on the internet. Please Mr. Twitch, release a Trans Tag so others don’t have to be forced to stay silent about who they ARE. - ❤️ Landon

Just another day where I cast a vote for a trans tag. Hiring people from the trans community would help with decisions like these. Instead, there's an entire community coming here to offer insight instead.
Please consider this as an available option.

Please. If anyone actually reads this besides us trans people with a hope. Please just give us a tag. It costs nothing. I really can't see an arguement NOT to do it. What is it? You might help lonely people find friends and family? You might accidentally boost your viewership when trans people can form a community? You might accidentally make someone have a better day? It's still an optional tag, there's only a positive here. Just spend 5 minutes writing 2 lines of code, that's all we ask.

I think that more inclusivity is definitely the way to go <3

It's funny that twitch claims to know what's best for a community better than the members of that community. Often times, I have browsed the LGBTQIA+ tag only to be met by transphobia. I have experienced transphobia on twitch far more often from browsing the LGBTQIA+ tag than from random viewers on my channel. Like-minded people with similar experiences want to find each other. We want to build a community together. Twitch, please stop standing in the way of that.

In less than two months, on the 4th of march it will have been 2 YEARS since this was first posted. I suggest we use that day to put a spotlight on this issue if by then twitch hasn't done something substantial yet.
I'm thinking a raid train of trans streamers who want to participate and trying to get as many allies as possible to support us during their stream that day (e.g. putting #transtag in their stream title, on-stream graphics and directing people to this page). If anybody wants to participate with this, whisper me on twitch @DragonessSammy

This should be a non issue. For a company that advertises inclusion and diversity, one would think that adding a trans tag would be a simple matter, especially considering that nearly 5000 people want it to happen. The tag would invite no more harassment than any other tag has, already.

There is absolutely no reason not to add the Trans tag and with it, fix the Tag system UI as a whole. Twitch, do the right thing.
