Beyond VIP: It’s time for a 'Legacy' status for long-term loyal viewers (7-year case)
Hi Twitch Team!
I’m writing to you not with a complaint, but with a mission to save my "OG" pride.
By December 2026, I will have been watching the same streamer for exactly 7 years. I’ve held a VIP badge for a long time and wore that diamond with pride. But let’s be honest: you’ve added so many VIP slots that some chats now look like a VIP-only party where everyone’s invited. My "Very Important" status is getting a bit lost in the crowd.
You already have a great hierarchy for moderators (like Channel Editor or Head Mod). Why not do something similar for VIPs?
My proposal: Introduce a new tier or badge — "Legacy VIP" or "Senior VIP."
This would be an exclusive slot for those who:
1. Have held a VIP status on a channel for 3+ or 5+ years.
2. Are the true "foundation" of the community.
For Twitch, it’s a way to boost retention and give streamers a tool to reward their most ancient and loyal fans. For me, it’s a legal way to playfully brag in chat that I was there before it was cool, with official Twitch approval.
Let’s highlight the people who have stuck with you (and their streamers) for years! I’m more than ready to be the first beta tester for this badge.
With love for the platform and hope for a "Golden Diamond" in chat,
FireSunBloodyMoon
