+1 to this, Twitch support just told me that my phone number just plain isn't ever going to be accepted by their system and they have no way of white-listing numbers - nor any other way of marking my account as legitimate no matter how many hundreds of dollars I throw around. I bet there are some creators who'd like some of that.

there are siooo many threads about this

but twitch isn't listening - i live in a place where mobile service doesn't work
I watch twitch on my desktop - email should be sufficient

or at keast provide a way that allows voip phone to work aa my carrier converted to fiber only service

I totally agree. This fkrs doesn't need a phone number. They can't even explain how that's supposed to make the chat safe. If I want to do something that breaks the rules, I'd rather register a new account with a vpn enabled and do what I want without any consequences. How will linking a number for normal, sane users prevent this? It doesn't.

i agree the verification via phone to be able to chat on streams and on whispers so needs to be removed completely for this is way too annoying and hurts blocks all normal users who already verified via email and hurts many others who don't have a cell phone at all
