Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

At no point did Twitch give me any indication I was in the beta for Moments. I only found out when the feature was confirmed dead. I'd have streamed more and tried to utilize this more had I been properly informed. Streamers that I watch for the most part did not have access and WANTED access but were denied. This was a great feature in the streams that DID have access to it and understood how to use it.

Sad to see that Twitch is not willing to really listen...

Honestly don't understand why this would have ever been removed. It's one of the best features twitch has added and I've looked forward to in so many channels. It's super disappointing that twitch never bothered to give any good reasons that made sense for cutting this feature when so many channels used it so well. Very questionable decision.

Moments were what kept me in Pie's stream. He was playing minecraft and it was one of the best moments on the website I have seen, and I have been here since 2015(?). It is truly upsetting that they are being removed.

Moments are such a cool way to drive engagement. Pretty lame of Twitch to just throw it in the trash.

Moments should not go away. Please reconsider this Twitch and allow more people using them to show other channels how great the feature is!

The amount of disrespect for the streamers and disconnect on what is happening at Twitch for the product on the screen is unacceptable. Why have this option for the community to speak to the company when they refuse to listen?

Moments have been absolutely amazing for both my own channel and in other channels that I'm in. One of the coolest things Twitch has done in recent years that I and everyone I know has thoroughly enjoyed.

Adding an additional comment here as a statement to Twitch directly.
Saw what you guys told Pie today about Moments being removed and wanted to chime in on again. First off, we'll ask for your input on what's working for us when we want to know specific metrics, otherwise you can shut your pieholes. There is 0 chance your claim that "50% of streamers had moments" is true, and also 0 chance your claim that "it only improved metrics for 1% of users" is true. You doomed it from the start by not being transparent about who had it or how to sign up for it, what it did, how to use it, and locked it to desktop only. Then you turned around and ignored the biggest user and advocate for Moments, Pie, and ghosted him up until today when you already had it canceled.
You owe moments a fair shot. And you owe Pie a massive apology for leading him, and the entire community, on during your decision to gut Moments. And finally, you owe Pie a second apology for directly stating to him what is essentially "we don't care what you think, and when we do, we'll ask you, otherwise can it." Be better.

I cannot express how much I love having moments and hope that this decision can be reversed. The creators I watch that give this away, the engagement is immense and fun to know that you have to be there to claim a moment. It feels like such an accomplishment with the creator and for the audience watching hoping to claim one. Please reconsider as I believe it will hurt creators not having the same tools to engage their audience.

moments are an EXTREMELY useful tool to keep up engagement, given the fact that it strengthens the feeling of community viewers desire. They are more likely to stay tuned during the whole stream and on a regular basis in order to not miss them.
Getting rid of this feature takes that away, worsening the streaming experience for both viewers and streamers, as well as indirectly tanking revenue, for the loss of a reward will make many users leave, no longer subscribing and watching ads.

Moments are honestly such a fun thing on Twitch. I've been part of a community for over 3 years now, and I get genuinely sad when I miss a Moment because I know it was something the streamer and the community deemed as "epic". You can't say the feature is a failure if it wasn't given expansions to the test base. Everywhere I know people had access to moments, they've been well loved and cherished. Shouldn't MORE Twitch users have access to that, not less?
