Keep Moments
Moments is a feature that Twitch released as a Beta to a handful of creators. Whenever something cool happened in your stream, you could give out a "Moment" to those who were there to witness it. Twitch just announced they are discontinuing it as of October. I'm writing this to ask you to reconsider.
The Moment was a clip that was created when you gave the command, and allowed for some minor editing. Anyone who claimed the moment would also receive a badge, and the more moments you claimed, the more your badge evolved over time. You could even click on someone's badge to see what moments they were there for.
As a creator, I was part of the Beta for Moments. This was an INCREDIBLE tool for engaging my audience. Most of the time, the Moments were for small little silly things that happened, but it allowed for my audience members who maybe couldn't afford to sub or cheer to showcase their loyalty to the stream by having a badge that said "I'm here for all the moments." The irony of the strength of this feature was that it wasn't really for "The Moment" you were there, but for combination of all the small little moments you got to share.
Growing on Twitch is about engaging your audience and giving them reasons to come back. Moments allowed viewers who tuned in for the day the chance at "being there" for something cool. It created an opportunity for people to stick around more and watch more of my content.
Anytime something cool happened my audience would say "MOMENT?," and so much so that I made an emote for the very thing. The emote ranked #1 in both my channel and outside my channel since it's creation for me.
It's failure as a feature is rooted in
- The Beta was too limited. Not enough people who could benefit from it were given the chance to use it.
- There was not a lot of push from Twitch to help creators understand why the feature is so good.
- The feature needed more feedback to shape it into something truly special.
Imagine having the badge and also attaching an Emote slot to Certain Tiers. Imagine having more options to really edit the clips so that you could really encompass the Moment. Imagine having MORE MOMENTS to give out so you could be more free with giving them out.
The reason it was cut was "limited use by the community" and that they would strive to "Create features that bring value to streamers"
Moments IS that feature. The badge is such a cool function. You don't need to make it compete with Featured Clips, in fact just having them on the viewer's profile under the badge is enough.
Please reconsider axing this and please actually reach out for feedback to those of us who get access to these Beta Features.

I had moments for a while and they were always fun for the absolutely wild moments that would happen on my stream, be it completing a game that was a hard time or just something absurd. All the streamers I watched that had moments were happy to give them out over many things and it was always a fun time when that happened.

Badges often don't display 4 moments and are not promoted at all there's no awareness about moments among anybody I know. IMO it's a differentiator and underutilized by twitch. I also had no idea that there was a rewind video album feature I only found out in the comments here

Moments have been such a good addition for Twitch! It's great to have a little (essentially) video album of all the fun times, big or small, with the twitch streamers. Clicking on the badges of other chatters and finding out what you missed or what you both saw? Love it! A great way to engage with the streamer and other chatters! Please, don't remove moments!

I can only speak to my own experience here, but I wouldn't be shocked if a nontrivial number of the people in the Moments beta who weren't using it didn't even realize they were in. It was a really quiet rollout and I myself only realized I had them once a friend of mine who was also in the beta started using it -- months after the fact. I'm not exaggerating when I say this turned out to be the best Twitch feature for my particular community since I got clips and even subscriptions.

Moments add incentive for chat to root for a streamer's success. Because crazy moments leads to, well, moments. It adds miles more value than Super Chats or Reactions.

**** yeah, moments are hype. I watch twitch every day but did not realize moments was limited to only certain streams. Keep them and make them more accessible.

Moments has been a great thing to have in streams to quickly feel like I was part of something big that happened. It might not be something every stream needs to use, but for the ones that have utilized it, it's been very nice!

Make it a Moment & !moment are easily the best things and most exciting moments for the community when it happens. It’s a badge of honor being in the stream during a fantastic moment that we can all share and remember.

Moments are an amazing addition to the twitch platform. There's nothing better than something amazing happening and getting a moment from it. I don't feel bad seeing that I miss out on moments either, because there will be more to come.

Moments have easily been a great addition and a huge part of the fun, especially on iateyourpie's channel. The feature itself has become part of the community, and it would be a shame to see this go. After all, I'm here for the moments!

As a creator that had access to this feature, it's one of my favorite ones Twitch has put out in a long time. Pie pretty much said everything I have to say about it, but I want to stress more how wild it is in the streams that did utilize this, moments became a huge talking point in chat. People LOVE when the streamer talks about issuing a moment, whether it be for something actually interesting, or just something silly. The badges chatters earn from it are highly sought after, and I really feel if more streamers had access to this, it would become much more popular site wide. It created tons of interaction between viewer and streamer by negotiating whether something should be a moment, or what they can do to earn a moment, or the best part, something that WILL happen when the streamer succeeds at something. This makes viewers want to stick around the stream longer to make sure they can claim the moment, saying they were there for the big win, or the streamer finally overcoming a challenge they've been working on for a long time.
I really think removing this is a mistake

I absolutely agree, moments is an actually amazing feature, it would make me and my entire community sad to lose it! Please twitch! Be merciful! Don't take our precious moments from us!

Free interaction for viewers DOES grow streams and keeps an audience engaged which in turn brings value. I don't think the decision to remove moments makes sense when you haven't rolled it out to a larger audience. I think this is a mistake and hopeful you poll a larger audience to see what it can really do.

This was a feature I was very much looking forward to getting but I never did. Love the interaction they bring to streams that actually had them.

Keep Moments, expand them to the creators. They are way too interesting of a feature to throw away because you didn't roll them out to enough people.

Moments are by far the most entertaining stream engagement Twitch has ever offered, and removing them shows a clear lack of judgement.
