This experiment is now closed as the new mobile redesign is rolling out to all users. Thank you for all your feedback during the experiment. We released an update to respect your autoplay settings in the feed, muted the feed on open by default (you can adjust this in your settings), and added mute functionality directly to the feed to give you more control over your viewing experience. We also enabled PIP over feed and have been continuing to improve app performance since launch. Learn more about the new app on our blog and continue to share feedback with us on the improved experience in the mobile category on UserVoice.

Moments are an amazing addition to the twitch platform. There's nothing better than something amazing happening and getting a moment from it. I don't feel bad seeing that I miss out on moments either, because there will be more to come.

I'm prefacing this with the fact that I've watched twitch almost exclusively from my phone for the last 3 years, only going on PC to sub or gift subs. The first time I opened the app after the update, I was in public and hadn't connected my headphones yet, because I wasn't sure if there was anyone I wanted to watch, but some random dude pops up and immediately starts yelling the f word. I had almost no issues with how the app ran before this point, so to see such drastic changes, especially all at once was such a big disappointment. The fact that it's now on a tik Tok style infinite scroll is clearly the idea of someone who doesn't watch twitch streams. I know I don't just watch a stream for 15 seconds and immediately want to switch to some random other person the app thinks I'll like. I watch streams for hours at a time, and the new layout doesn't really mesh with that, when I accidentally swipe and go to a new stream that has pre rolls on and get ads, so I go back but now have to sit through ads again. The fact that my followed streams aren't nearly as accessible as they were before is another stupid move. And that I can't minimize my current stream is another stupid change. There's been changes I didn't like in the past, but none so deal breaking as this one, I've uninstalled the app and don't plan to reinstall it unless this change is reverted. I want twitch not a poor rip off of TikTok.
