Let chants be optional instead of removing them
I know Twitch says the feature seemed to cause a decrease in viewership during their testing, but there are so many other factors that can affect that and many streamers who got to try out the chant feature really enjoyed it. I think it’d be better to make it an optional feature rather than remove it entirely, and let people decide on their own if it works for their channel.

More options for users are always better.

Twitch shouldn’t be policing whether or not chants are effective, when all communities operate independently of Twitch’s general expectations! Some have found great success with the feature! Make it a toggle option! 💜

When used in channels that I mod it also seems to bring out new chatters which in my book is a win.

I find them hilarious and I always jump to use them when a mod activates them. Normally during an event or say an in game death etc. Definitely also find people will break a lurk to say hello too. Not sure where they found there was a decrease in viewership when in my experience it's made more people active in chats.

Agreed. Chants are not an issue by nature - the issue often lies in whether or not a streamer's mods know how to utilize them effectively. A simple toggle for those who are comfortable having them enabled would be great.
