[Test] Crowd Chant
Some communities will notice a new way to "chant" during hype moments on stream. This is a limited time experiment where only some creators will have access to this feature. Creators and Mods will be able to use /chant (using text and/or emotes) in chat to kick one off. Viewers will see a private callout with the chant and can dismiss or choose to participate!
We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions here. We look forward to hearing your feedback!
On 2/2, we will turn off Chants.
While this feature was popular, we observed negative impacts to minutes watched for significant groups of creators.
Experiments help us test new ideas in real time, and decide what to build next. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

The feature is a lot of fun! It should stay, but should also be opt-in for creators, instead of being enabled by default!

I personally think this is a good idea, but give streamers the option to disable it if they don't want it on their channel

As a moderator of a streamer that puts his content on YouTube. Its great to use on sections where the streamer asks chat to spam "Hi/Bye <platform>" or when the streamer dies in a game and we have Emote only mode, so we can easily chant an emote or text.
I vote for keeping this feature. Its always great to have more and more tools that moderators/streamers can use :) -

as a moderator of a channel that isn't super big but certainly isn't small it would be nice to be able to let people use sub emotes through the chant function but if you did /chant then the non subs also get that and then you get a lot of the emote name without the effective emote so I suggest to make a /chantsubs together with /chant also public for example so that you don't always get the text of an emote even if you wanted to chant a sub emote

Is there any way that a chant could override sub status i.e. if a chant is started using a channel emote and a non-subscriber interacts, it just displays as text, which looks disjointed

I was fortunate to get this command on my channel. We've had it one day and my community loves it! Please keep this command and allow all channels to have access!

chants are great please make it a regular thing accessible to all creators
also upon reading some of the comments below I think that being able to set a duration on the chant (e.g. /chant [message] [seconds]) would be really handy in controlling the amount of chanting in high-volume chats.

I think it should be changed a bit so that instead of just "/chant [message]" and it gets sent to everyone, you make it "/chant [message] [10]". Where "[10]" can either indicate a percentage of chat or number of people in chat that get the message.
So doing "/chant [message] [20]" in a 200 viewer chat will give it to 40 people(if you made it percentage of viewers based) or to 20 people(if you made it number of viewers based).
Right now it becomes way too much for larger chats so having more control over how many people get it could help curb that

As a mod in a couple of music streams, this feature is awesome. I used it to get people to chant the lyrics of a song for example and the chat loves it. It works great at relatively small community sizes, it's not over spammy and gets the chat hyped.
Would be nice for the streamer / mods to be able to set how long the chant goes for, so that in big communities it's not 5 minutes of endless spam
