[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.

Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

Harder for people to read, less inclusive (dyslexics will have a hard time) and just...why? Utterly pointless chsnge.

This needs to be changed back. Italic text can actually be more difficult to read and can be difficult for people who have existing trouble with their eye sight. I have good eyesight and it's difficult for me to read. This is a useless feature. If you must, bring back colored text for /me and provide /italic if someone wants to use that. There are more important things that needs be addressed than this. Please provide a filter on username creation, identities and user safety.

i hate the plain italics. the color messages added to raid calls and bot messages in chat. the italics add nothing to the messages and just look bad.

Italics just look terrible when compared to the color messages. Italics are also harder for people with dyslexia to read. As a streamer I already have a hard enough time reading messages, I don't need to be any harder than it already is.

Just make it both colored AND italicized. Why be only slightly extra when you can go the extra mile. Please and thanks!
Sincerely someone who uses colored chat on a daily basis and not in a trolling way. <3

Or at least give streamers the authority to distinguish what roles can use it, enable it or disable it. The ENTIRE point was how it stood out by color. Plain black with italics is making it useless.

If you say this is just copying another idea, I will delete/downvote the comment (whatever is available) -

Way to go twitch. The /me messages on color were not only fun for the comunity but also useful. It helped with the visibility of timers and if it was used fro trollong it helped highlighting the message. It was also a fun thing to do on raids, people have fun coloring the chat of the stremers being raided and I have yet to encounter a streamer that does. The italics /me command is fine. but it should be a toggle on the account not a forced meassure

Another unnecessary change, shame twitch listens to the vocal minority instead of pleasing the majority of viewers.

It needs to be changed back ASAP. Most of our moderation bot messages are /me to STAND OUT and now they just blend in and are harder to read. It looks terrible. Either change it back or give channels better options for their chat (and editors/mods if channel owner desires).

It's an accessibility issue - the italics make it harder to read chat as someone who is dyslexic. You can't replace a "security" issue with ****** over accessibility of your site, it's not on

there should be a command that makes chat messages a different color, maybe like what you set your name color as.

Colored messages are crucial for moderation. In a fast chat a colored message is the most effective way to reach the chatting viewers.
Otherwise Capslock needs to be used which disattracts people because many people feel shouted at when they read capslock.
The other possibillity would be spamming a message what is less effective and interrupts ongoing conversations in the chat. -

There is no reason to limit this to only mods/broadcaster.. If people are so concerned with spammers and scammers using that in their chats, at least it highlights the messages making it easier to delete and ban the user.

You've really messed up creators who tailor their messages to the old /me format. Seems like you didn't think this change through. Bring back colored chat messages.

BRING. IT. BACK. Our bots need highlighted messages, not slanted text that's god awful to try to read!

I really enjoy the italics, but will miss the colors. Is it possible to have the best of both worlds and implement both color and italics?

I know a lot of people are angry that /me is now italics instead of colors.
I am someone who personally like the italics much more then the colors for /me, but this is not about me this is about everyone.
And a lot of people are rightfully upset that the new /me did not come with any other features or ability to still use colored chats if they so chose to for mods/bot commands/users of their choosing, or everyone if they so wish.
My suggestion is to add a way for the broadcaster to select either how /me looks for different roles in their stream, or even specific users.
or add in a new command something like /yell /shout /cmd /broadcast /announce /color ect. (something along those lines) that can be colored for moderators, broadcasters, or users and the broadcaster can select for themselves who can used colored messages and use that command in their chat.
I feel this should become a customizable feature so broadcasters and streamers can custom tailor their chat experience, and not one or the other.

Please bring back colored /me chat messages.
Plain black with italics does render it useless.
