Verified status for everyone and /verifiedonly chat mode
I would appreciate a very helpful feature for a lot of streams.
Feature/Requirements:
1) Make verifications and a verified status available for every user
2) Mark verified users with a badge on the profile page
3) Mark verified users with a badge in the chat
4) Implement a /verifiedonly chat mode
5) Link multiple accounts to the same verification
Pros:
With the above mentioned features Twitch would become a safer and nicer place for everyone.
With the option for users to verify their accounts with their ID card, driver's license, or Amazon account and a chat mode for verified users only, a lot of spam, scam, harmful behavior, and ban evasions could be prevented. A chat ban of a verified account results in a ban for all the accounts linked to the same verification. Also a platform ban of a verified account results in a ban for all the accounts linked to the same verification. This procedure would make ban evasion more harder.
Cons:
This would result in a higher administration effort.

I completely agree with your suggestions! Verifying accounts with IDs or Amazon could significantly reduce spam and harmful behavior on Twitch, making it a safer space for all users. The /verifiedonly chat mode would also ensure a higher quality of interactions by restricting chats to verified users. Linking multiple accounts to a single verification adds an extra layer of security, reducing ban evasion.
As someone who checks official documents regularly, like on https://emiratesidstatuscheck.ae/ I understand the importance of verification processes. They not only create trust but also provide a sense of accountability and community. While there may be more admin efforts, the long-term benefits are worth it!

This sounds like a great idea to make Twitch safer! Verifying accounts could really cut down on spam and ban evasion. Sure, it might require more admin work, but the benefits for the community would outweigh the effort. cons:
It's harassment to anyone who thought the platform was free to chat with streamers. Chat is now globally hidden behind a 3rd party paywall. Now I'm expected to spend $50 on a device or $200 for device without service. $25 for activation, & $25 upfront for a monthly pre-paid service just to maintain a verified account.
No guarantee the # I'll be given will be acceptable to Twitch unless its on a mobile carriers network.
No guarantee a prepaid # will be acceptable to twitch unless it hasn't already been used.
No way to use computer SMS apps unless you have a mobile device, which would use unacceptable VoiP numbers anyway & be rejected.
Also very unclear whether they even let you remove a verified number if you lose access to that number.
Don't forget you can always have your device mirrored when you go out, so you effectively bought a brick that's only safe when you leave it at home in a lead lined box.Need I elaborate further? I think I shall.
Worst part is you ACTUALLY made this mandatory foolishness happen & still reject landlines phone numbers despite your parent company Amazon ACCEPTING LANDLINES FOR VERIFICATION PURPOSES.
But you refuse to add "send a call with a code".
Let's ******* go, absurdism at its finest."Feature/Requirements:
1) Make verifications and a verified status available for every user"
This was skipped over entirely.

Absolutely not. This is a dumpster fire of an idea. If Andy wants to require IDs to login, he should go to a country that will limit his internet activity for "his own benefit."

Throw my "this is awful and should never have happened" on the mountain with all the others. Read any number of other people talking about how awful this is and you'll have the gist of this.
All this is doing is having me cancel my subs and go to other platforms that don't require me to give out my IRL phone number. Like I'm not the biggest fish out there but I have spent thousands over the years on bits, subs, gift subs, and donations and now twitch is going to lose that business and I can only hope enough people also do this that Twitch undoes this garbage. I'm not going to hold my breath though as it's really easy to shrug your shoulders and just give them what they want and people don't usually think about why this is just an awful idea.

what does it mean "KEEP THE CHAT SAFER" with a phone number associated? you will call the police and provide them with the user's phone number or what?
People's phone number is personal data. Even real life entities dont ask for it , they ask for email addresses. so if this verification process was through Email Address, then thats fine, this whole platform is digital and using digital form of verification is what would make sense , but getting into personal information to verify a digital service (Chat) which twitch is providing users is the wrong approach.
so basically you are saying "lets keep twitch environment safe, but your real life in danger if user data got leaked" , we have seen previous examples of such when snapchat got hacked and user data leaked. so are you sure you want to go for the personal data approach ? because any leakage of this information will cause you millions of law suits. (thats if any sane person gave you their phone number willingly)

In modern online communication platforms, the option to verify status or enable a "/verifiedonly" chat mode has become increasingly important. These features ensure that users can trust the authenticity of the information shared and the identities of those they interact with. By verifying status, whether through official accounts, authentication processes, or other means, platforms enhance security and reliability. The "/verifiedonly" chat mode further refines this by restricting interactions solely to verified users, fostering a more secure and credible environment for discussions and transactions. This approach not only builds user confidence but also mitigates website https://aznameify.com/ risks associated with misinformation and impersonation, making online interactions more transparent and trustworthy overall.

No. Bad idea as it requires sharing personal information with a company and one with a history of having that and other data leak from them.
