Delete your own message
It would be very nice, if it's possible to delete your own message in the chat. It happens sometimes that you write something what sounds pretty good in your mind, but if you read it in the chat after sending it, you recognize that it wasn't such a cool Idea to post it or you mention by yourself that your message is stupid and want to delete it. A cool way to implement this would be, if you add a little bin between the own message, that you can easy delete it by clicking on them.

I just wanted to give a heads up on this, there is actually a way you can delete your own messages in chat but you MUST be a chat moderator to be able to do it.
On the EXACT message, right click on your username and a pop up will show up that says ban, purge, delete and from there, click on delete. The message you want removed should then hopefully be deleted.

I can't believe there is no way for the Broadcaster to Delete their Own Messages! Unbelievable.

At the very least let MODS delete their own messages, or those of other mods. Currently if I mod posts something accidentally that shouldn't be seen, a streamer has to un-mod the person, delete the message, and then re-mod them. Which is kinda ridiculous.

This could be good! Sometimes you type in the wrong window or with the wrong keyboard, and you could send sensitive data accidentally! Easier to delete your own message than ask mods to do it, wait for them to see your message, to find the previous one, to delete the previous one...
Though there are bad sides to this too. People could abuse it like anything else.

the fact that this is STILL not implemented yet is insane

if a streamer wants to have this function in their channel there are easy solutions utilizing chat bot commands

Would be great. Posted a spoiler by mistake, luckily streamer didn't see. Would have been better if I could have removed my own message.
To counteract trolling you could have the message still be clickable to see what was removed.

Today I made this typo that was extremely embarrassing. I wanted to type "sick" but I put "****" (Starts with a D). I am a mod in the channel so there is no way to delete the message. Its a family friendly stream. I really NEEDED to remove that message but twitch does not allow it.

Instead of deleting, a user should be able to add a delay before it is sent.
Like Gmail has "undo" for 4 seconds, before it is sent.

As a mod, being able to delete other mods messages as well as your own would be nice.

This would be so good. I constantly mess up with chat messages and it would be so nice to be able to remove it and type it right. And yes, I've sent stupid chat messages.

Please, this is an important feature! There is currently NO WAY for a broadcaster's message to be deleted (that I know of). If a streamer inadvertently pastes sensitive/personal information in chat this can be very dangerous with no way to remove it.
And come on, the streamer can remove anyone else's messages.

I like this idea. Being able to delete messages, but mods could still see them is really smart, and i think it should be implemented.

This can be accomplished by adding a !vanish command to a chatbot. All it does is time out the user who typed !vanish for 1 second, effectively the same as deletion

Yep, I immediately saw the abuse potential of being able to say something inappropriate and then hiding it from the mods - but the easy solution is what tomasdev said: Let the deletion hide it from regular users, but still be visible (and noted as "deleted") to mods/the streamer.
-
tomasdev commented
And even for regular users, it can be implemented in a way where even when deleted, mods can continue seeing them (same way mod-deleted messages work)

Drew, I want this feature as a mod/owner of a channel, for my own sake.
