Include the option to use 24h clock in chat timestamps
Having 12h times is confusing, since where I live, all printed times are always given in 24h format.
I'd like there to be a UI option to switch between.
If feasible, the default settings whould depend on the user's locale, so most people would never need to touch it - it'd be "right" for them automatically.

Sooooo. When do we get the 24 hours timestamps for the chat?

Rest of the world is 24hrs

July 2023. I totally agree with my fellow users. Giving us a 12/24h option, and considering different time zones, would definitely make Twitch feel more inclusive and globally accessible.
Thank you for listening to our input. This is a small change, but it would mean a lot to us; we still trust you’ll implement it soon. -

I would like this or am/pm be displayed next to those times. I very often have the chat window open for *days*, and no clue how old the messages are.
My only workaround is to use a chat client and connecting to TMI via the API to get that information. -

Americans basing their global platform on their own standards again? Come on, use 24 hour clock by default and give option for non-standard users to use their 12 hour clock.

I also googled and ended up here... in 2023! Why is there is no 24hr timestamps yet? And this poor post is about 5.5 years old?! Wat. Σ(°△°|||)︴

I googled it and came here... can't believe in 2022 there is no 24 hour format...

Surprised this is not an option, I guess it's too hard to pass down to all places where locale-specific time formatting is used across the board. Shame, at least comments suggest that some locales have it in 24hr, will try switch to those, or write hacky javascript interceptor to update html on the fly xD

It should be an account setting...

So it looks like twitch finally listened after 4 years and my chat timestamps are now in the 24-hour format. Unfortunately, it seems to be tied to the UI language so if I ever decide to switch my UI to English (which is tempting due to the not-that-great quality of the localization I'm using), I'm going to be stuck with the 12-hour timestamps. And in before your (twitch's) solution is going to be "switch to English - UK", I'm going to say: "color > colour". Please give us an option to change the time format independently of language settings.

Just adding to this. 24h display should be default in countries that use them either by default or exclusively themselves. And of course as user selectable option for others.

Still no option... :(

3 years later and option to change time format in chat is still not available. This is just sad.

Another bump. This is so annoying for me as well. We use 24h format here too. It's not even hard to add and thus should be standard. -sigh-

Bump. In my country we use exclusively 24-hour format in digital clocks. I'd like to be able to use it on twitch as well.
