How can we improve Twitch chat?

Chat: Feature Request

Categories

Abilility to mark anyone in chat with a badge.

This could be a customizeable badge that only shows up locally (other users cant see it). There are a few ways this can be useful such as:

  1. Being able to mark friends so you can see if they are chatting in the same room as you.

  2. Tagging yourself so your own messages can be seen easier in screenshots.

  3. Tagging the person you are chatting with in a busy channel so you can easily see their messages before they get buried under lines of spam. (Ablility to make it temporary maybe)

If you need to you can have it saved as a browser cookie so it is stored on the users machine so you could save server storahe space. Also if the badge is not customizeable there will eventually be a userscript that will let people change it.

The ability to mark anyone in chat with a local, customizable badge could greatly enhance user experience by helping identify friends, highlight your own messages in screenshots, or track someone you're chatting with in a busy channel—all without cluttering the server or affecting other users. Making the badge temporary or storing preferences via browser cookies ensures minimal server load and full user control. This kind of personalization, much like using tools to organize content like https://popeyesmenupricescanada.com/ does for menu info, brings clarity and convenience to otherwise cluttered environments.

Many chat platforms are introducing features that allow users to mark others with badges, making it easier to identify roles like moderators, VIPs, or contributors within a conversation. This ability not only enhances user engagement but also fosters a sense of community by recognizing individuals for their contributions or importance. Just like the Iconic Big Mac Burger stands (https://mcddmenu.co.uk/) out on the McDonald's menu, these badges help key members stand out in chat, creating a more organized and interactive environment.
