Celebration.. the action of marking one's pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity.
Irony.. the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
By giving *and in some cases forcing* creators of all shapes and sizes use of this feature, with its current configuration, is at best ironic of the word choice intended for the feature. You want to take half of a donation that someone makes to a streamer, whom enjoys the content the streamer creates (or the streamer themselves), just because? I can't find the words to tell you how overly insensitive and cruel this decision truly is.
Paypal takes 30 cents. Streamlabs hardly takes anything more than that. You're wanting 50%. I understand you're a business that needs to stay afloat, but this is too much.
Your heads are so far up your collective *** at this point that you don't see the harm you're pushing onto your creators with decisions like this one. Within the past few years, you have released NOTHING to help creators, or work in conjunction with them, to aid their content. Rather, you've made it HARDER to offer content on your platform.
I will be heavily enforcing the rule of NOT using celebrations, because taking HALF the profit away from the people who need it more than you is very upsetting. This is the wrong time to play a practical joke.
You already have issues with DMCA, the last attempt you had at getting money from creators. Instead, you took the high road and just muted vods that had copyrighted music in it. Thus there's no need for the DMCA. But how about the vods you muted who HAVE the licenses to use that music or content, and you just muted or deleted the content without notification first? Unacceptable.
Instead of this feature, you should instead offer the chance for creators to have ANIMATED EMOTES for higher tier subscriptions. Say, the 5th tier 2 emote or third tier 3. It would drastically improve the chances of getting more revenue because people will want creators to have animated emotes, which sparks more subscriptions; which you take half of already. It's a win-win for everyone.
Siphoning our income like this is completely unethical and uncalled for, and, if implemented at its current stage, will result in a rather large wave of creators LEAVING your platform for one that doesn't have this issue.
Continue on this path if you want to metaphorically shoot yourselves in the foot, but otherwise try to do something that creators actually WANT, instead of something the bigwigs want.
