IGDB

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

  1. In addition to box art, id love to see the actual game cart / disc label hosted. Actual carts themselves could be problematic as scan/photo/image quality would vary wildy, but if we could have high quality representations of the label, it could be simple to add to a clean template cartridge to display. See how screenscraper does it under the label heading for an example of what i mean: https://www.screenscraper.fr/gameinfos.php?plateforme=14&gameid=5441

  2. Very happy to see Delisted added to the Status options. If possible, it would be nice to also allow for documenting the date in which a title was removed from online storefronts, similar to how Offline Status allows users to document the date online functionality was shut down.

However, even when documented, Offline Status's Date does not currently show on the standard entry page, so this probably is a double request in that case.

  3. I wasn't sure what to use for this and I think that's the point. Puzzle titles like Tetris, Pong, Breakout, and the like are very hard to define in terms of a Theme based on the choices available.

An Abstract Theme might be the best case in these situations.

Hi! We talked about adding this theme, and we all agreed that it's a good idea. We just have to write clear guidelines around it. We are looking to add this as soon as possible. Thanks!

  4. When sorting lists by Release Date, titles missing ones are often sorted to the front as future titles, or to identify ones that need a Release Date added. However, cancelled titles never hope to come out, and therefore never will have a date. Ability to disable this setting, or identify the time it was announced as cancelled could alleviate this problem, over a permanent TBA or TBD.

  5. Pick topics on how to review a game

    example
    20% gameplay
    80% soundtrack

don't ask the user for a final score determine the total score based on each category

does not have to be my idea though just upvote this if you wanna see a more robust review system

  6. Both Castlevania for the N64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness are missing from the Categories menu of Twitch, but they are not missing from IGDB's site. I have spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out how to inform someone, ANYONE, of this (admittedly small) oversight and ended up here.

There has to be a better way to inform Twitch/IGDB of problems of this nature than to wander aimlessly around the Twitch help section, then give up and use the feedback forum, hoping that a relatively minor fix will be noticed by someone with the power and…

    Hey there!

For all things IGDB it is best to come to us directly rather than via Twitch help. Our preferred way is via Discord :)

    Discord: discord.gg/igdb
    Contact form: https://www.igdb.com/feedbacks/new
    Twitter: https://twitter.com/IGDBcom

Regarding the Twitch categories, while IGDB provides the data but what ends up there is decided by Twitch itself. In the case of Castlevania it is due to the fact Twitch is not ingesting Versions of games at this time. We are however working on expanding the data set so that they can become categories. Stay tuned!

  7. The Multiplayer Modes seem to have a theme when you look over the options available in Categorization. Almost all of them include specific special cases for some form of Co-op or shared Split-Screen, but none for LAN Competitive.

The most obvious examples I can think of would be the GBA Link cables for local LANs such as the Sonic games, or the Ad-hoc/WiFi features of the PSP, 3DS and others where these aren't Co-op modes or Split Screen, but Linked and Competitive.

  9. Like Steam offers, there should be localized posters. Chinese posters, for example, will often have a completely different name and/or different brand logo.

  10. As means of promoting game editing, there could be a game recommendation for the user. It would be based on the game pages the user visited, the games the user rated, etc. A notification could appear on the website with the recommendation, and there could be a place in "Karma hunters" for some more recommendations.
It would certainly help with many more game info missing, as the person would be prompted to help with something they most probably know.

  11. There are alot of titles that seem to list multiple divisions as publishing arms for each region. While this can make sense for Developers like Ubisoft Montreal or Shanghai that are responsible for the creation of the game, it makes less sense for Publishers that serve as regional PR wings.

Ex. "Sega" vs Sega of Japan, Sega of America, Sega of Europe.

  12. A list of mods could be shown as toggable to not mess with the layout of the page, since some games have an extensive mod library (I'm looking at you Super Mario World and Super Mario 64).

  13. In modern gaming Publisher, Developer, and everything in between no longer represent the sensibilities and ideas on display in a final product. The real influence on the art, is the artist.

I want for there to be some way to keep track of specific, decision making, people on development teams that make the games we all know and love. I want to follow the writing lead/team of Tyranny, I want to follow the design team/lead of Guild Wars 1, I want to assemble a list of those artists that make the pieces of media I enjoy. Through assembling this web…

  14. Being able to ask the search engine I question about a video game. Example could be instead of searching people or game you could query a separate group called "Questions" then type "Who is the creator of pac man" or "Who did software development for ultima online" etc. Could also be carried over to IMDB. example "who played billy in billy madison"

  16. It would be great to have a quick way to view the games you have played and not yet rated. Sometimes I might forget to rate the game and I do not want to spend a long time comparing the list of played games to rated games to see which ones got missed and the same is true the other way around. Even if we could download the list of review games via CVC (like we can with played games) then I could easy use a duplicates search function on excel to do this. It is really annoying when the…

  17. The only other games shown when on a game profile are reccomendations and past visits, DLC/updates notwithstanding. Design-wise there's a lot of empty space that could be utilized to fill with this, in my opinion, important additional information. Stuff like a Franchise view showing a simplified timeline of sequels/prequels, spinoffs. And perhaps the most egregious, mods are nowhere to be found! As far as I can tell you can only find a mod (or fangames for that matter) by specifically searching for the title, basically ensuring they will never be 'organically' discovered. That in particular could easily be solved by…

  18. Currently it is possible to add a status to each game entry of the database, which doesn't make sense sometimes: it should be possible to select which "version" of the game the user own and, separately, the status of the game.

I might own a specific "edition" of a game (e.g. deluxe, collector, goty, etc...) but I am not playing the specific edition, I'm playing the game which is the same regardless the edition I own.
Similar thing happens (especially) with bundles, as I own a bundle but I might (probably) have different status for each game of the bundle.

  19. It would be nice to have the possibility to add additional information when adding a game to own lists such as:
    format (physical or digital);
    purchase date and price;
started and finished date (multiple times for multiple playtroughs).
But, more importantly, the possibility to track individually different versions of the game; I might have completed a game on a platform, finished on another and playing on another one.

  20. Add Archipelago Randomizer as a Catergory on Twitch
    Information about Archipelago > https://archipelago.gg/

    Tldr:
This is a cross-game modification system which randomizes different games, then uses the result to build a single unified multi-player game. Items from one game may be present in another, and you will need your fellow players to find items you need in their games to help you complete your own.
Many people stream it at the moment, Solo and In groups- it would be easier to have one category instead of people hopping from game to game category to fit twitch TOS
