I've used streamlink for the past few years now. As of the past couple weeks. It is now plagued with purple screens that do not resume the stream or crash the player in the case of vlc media player. There is only one streamer I can now watch through streamlink since they do not play ads.

I prefer to use streamlink because of its simplicity and light weight. Most of the time I'm doing something in my other monitor like playing a game. I don't want a web page slowing down my computer like the twitch site does.

Or even on older hardware like my old first gen i5 laptop I have connected to a TV. It constantly drops frames on the web page no matter what quality I set it to. Using MPV and streamlink, I got no dropped frames at 720p60.

Ultimately. This hurts not only the viewer but the streamers too since they will get less watch time and views from users like myself.

I might consider turbo if that would actually work. Unfortunately what I've seen is even if I'm subscribed to a channel. I will still get pre and mid roll ads which in turn break my viewing experience.

This is very frustrating and I hope this issue is resolved soon.
