Add an option to turn off of automatic subscription renewals
Please add an OPTION for users to opt-out of the automatic renewals system for subscriptions. Many users occasionally sub for just one month to a streamer, perhaps because they've enjoyed a stream or two. It takes several clicks and page loads to turn off that auto-renewal, and many users can forget.
It is ethically far better to allow this feature to be switched off. Some users might then forget to resubscribe, but that is economically better than forgetting to unsubscribe and potentially losing money. Twitch, it is OUR money we're spending on this website. Basic ethics means allowing us to manage that money as we see fit.
Why are Twitch Prime subs treated this way? Users must always manually re-sub their Twitch Prime. Why not extend that option to all subscriptions? I'd imagine the answer is because Twitch does not make money when a viewer uses their Prime sub, so there's no advantage to them forcing users through several clicks to turn off the renewal in the hopes that they'll forget. This would reflect very poorly on Twitch.
With this as an OPTION rather than an across-the-board policy, those users who prefer the automatic auto-renewal are still served. With Prime subs already working without auto-renewal, an option like this should be easily implemented.
This is different from the previous idea regarding automatic renewals, which recommended automatic renewals be an opt-in, and Twitch's response was that they didn't want users to need to micro-manage. This idea is to make automatic renewals opt-out, so users will not have that micro-management forced upon them.

They want you to forget to shut it off.

3 years later there is still this problem, you can tell where twitch's priorities lie how much money can they wring from you before you notice.

For months now, I have only been wanting to sub to channels for one month at a time. I juggle supporting a lot of channels so I can only afford so many subscriptions. There is no way to choose to not have subscriptions renew on purchase, so I have to go through another option.
The current system for cancelling a sub is incredibly tedious and time-consuming. Why is it that for every single sub I purchase, I have to click multiple buttons and go through multiple steps to cancel the subscription. Multiple times now, I've accidentally resubscribed for a month more than I needed because I missed the step of going and stopping my subscription. This has caused a lot of pain and headache on my part.
With that, I always put the note of "I prefer to manually renew my subscriptions". I've done this countless times but it seems that does not matter, as I still have to go through the process of cancelling again and again.
Is it possible to have a toggleable option accessed through the subscription screen to PERMANENTLY have subs manually renew only? It would make the site way easier for those of us managing our money.

Yes I totally agree, it’s completely put me off subbing to a channel and opting to gift subs or bits instead

I totally agree. Every time I sub to someone I immediately go to my Subscriptions page and turn off automatic resub because if I don't I'm likely to forget and keep getting charged. It is obvious that making automatic resub the default option was done in the hopes that people forget to cancel their subscription. When you turn off auto resub they even have the reason listed that you prefer to resub manually. With how often that reason is picked I'm sure they are well aware people want to be able to either have the option to opt out, or even better that manual resubbing is the default and you have to opt in to auto resubbing.

Crazy how this feature request is nearly two years old and Twitch is still forcing users to renew subs.
It makes me want to donate to a streamer directly, even if they prefer a channel sub, just to spite Twitch attempting to shakedown each and every user who subscribes to a streamer on the service.

Can we please remove the autorenewal on all subscriptions?
I lost like 50 dollars from these autorenewals, when you want to support a friend to give them their first sub, then a month later you get an e-mail just stating "congrats you subbed again lol", not even a warning "you will renew in a week, are you sure about this?".This makes me not want to sub to anyone ever, lost so much money on this useless feature.

I agree that I would like the option to only subscribe for one month and not have it renew. I like the freedom of supporting new streamers without committing to more than I wanted to.

This just happened to me and although its probably my fault, I'm not going to subscribe to anyone anymore for risk of twitch syphoning money unsuspectingly from me. Most people manage their money well, but this is a predatory way to take money from people like myself that aren't as paranoid about companies like this trying to take advantage of the customer as they should be.

I watch a lot of different Twitch streamer that I can't sub to every month so I choose 2-3 streamers each month to sub to.
My problem is: if I forget to cancel the automated resub function I can't switch to a different streamer for the next month.
It would help me greatly if there was a setting where I can change it to only subbing for one month each.

I remember a previous suggestion being declined on the premise [sic] "We prefer people don't have to micro manage their subscriptions" but then we still have to micro manage to make sure our subs don't automatically renew.
I believe an option to subscribe once, be a default or an obvious option when you subscribe to someone.

When I subscribe to a channel, I pick the "alternative payment method" that lets me prepay for multiple months in a single transaction, then I immediately cancel it so it doesn't auto-renew afterwards.
It would be nice to not have to do that every single time.
