Gift subs to more than one specific user at once
Right now you can gift a sub to one specific user. Or you can gift to the community, which will chose randomly who gets a sub.
I think it would be great if we could collect a couple of users first and then give out 5 or 10 or more subs at once to selected users.
This is much better for the community since this way sub-gifters can target active users instead of the random selection picking out rarely lurking followers.
YES, PLEASSSEEEEE. I get gifted subs for channels I dont even remember going to, and surely will never return to, i feel for those users wasting their money (somewhat, although it still servers the channel owner as intended). Logically it would serve the channel owner better by allowing gifters to target active real individual users on the channel that are offering great contributions in chat.
@tinyjams, have you never gotten a sub to a channel you no know? I get them so often.
It is so freaking random.
I would love to have gifted subs being "stored" like bits, so I can buy a bundle of subs and gift them like I want.
How is it determined? You're telling me if I want to gift a 5-pack it goes to people not active? That's insane
Suggestion to add feature: Targeted multi gift subs.
For the longest time I think it holds true for my channel and many other channels that Gifted subs has made up a significant part of the economy of our channels on Twitch. A huge pain point I have encountered and heard voiced by so many others is the inconsistent algorithm of who gets the subs.
In general I like to reward the active chatting members of a community who are always there. At the same time, taking time out of my broadcast to click each name and gifted them individually might end up in to long of a break from my broadcast, and some people might end up leaving as they don't care to get subs. They just want to watch the content, thinking about this I came up with a solution I want to suggest.
Allow us to start a "sub gifting event" where we can make up a keyword for chat to enter. For instance "FreeSub". And then select a number 5,10,20 etc of gifted subs that we wish to give to our community. And then the first X amount of people who enter this keyword will be eligible for a sub token.
The event could either be auto completed once we reach the number of subs we wanted to give out. Or a button to complete the transaction could pop up at the end and we can verify it. I think I would lean towards the latter as there might be scenarios where you want to redo/correct it. Select the wrong amount of subs, or bots interfering with this.
I would also suggest giving this opportunity to community members where they can "Pre pay" and it pops up for the streamer and we can start the "gifting event". This is probably the best way to go about it so there won't be any trolls in chat trying to trick streamers into thinking they will be gifted.
Another point I would like to add at the end is that each individual sub we gift. We have to pay a processing fee as well. So this would in the long term save us some money on getting to selectively spread it out. Instead of having to gift over and over.
Welcome any feedback on this!
would love this implemented, currently a hassle to do by hand for several specific users and no API to cover sub gifting
It could be great that we can choose the users to whom we gift suscriptions when we gift more than 1.
For example, gift 5 by making a list with the names of the users
this, especially during a hype train, i want to gift lots of subs but i hate how they are so random, if i could do a comma delimited list to specific users then a single purchase, that would be beneficial for everyone... and easy to implement? or right click on chat name and add them to list.
For the longest time, I've been only gifting 1 sub at a time because randomly gifting subs to the community regularly gives them to individuals that aren't even active in chat - how silly! >.<
If you want to gift multiple subs, you can let Twitch pick randomly, giving those subs to trolls, bots, and others. OR you can click each persons name, and gift directly, multiple times. And if you gift multiple times, it can be seen as spamming - and yes, some streamers get mad about being given money like this...
Now, there are multiple feature requests for a better algorithm for selecting users to be gifted a sub. None of which have been acted on in over a year. Perhaps it's tricky to determine the fairness of such a change.
However, generating a simple check box list of unsubscribed users, that a gifter can select from would avoid the downsides of the current auto-selection, would be utilized by those specific users most interested (as to not negatively impact anyone who dislikes the change), and would be simple to implement.
For clarity, this would exist alongside the current "choose for me" approach. A gifter would be able to either method.
Agreed! It would be great to be able to tick users from the viewer list or from a list of active chatters.
Please add a way to gift multiple subscriptions to specific viewers to the same streamer.
