Rollback the FireTV App to V9
The loss of functionality of V10 when compared to V9 is baffling. The redesigned UI is nigh incapable of assisting the user with finding non-live content, since the home, bowse, and category pages now only present live channels to the user.
In the prior app version, all followed channels were listed in a dedicated row about 2 rows below the top/live followed channels row. By removing this and all other non-live content, V10 of the FireTV app delivers an experience that is order of magnitudes more cumbersome to navigate compared to the prior version.
In the updated version users are required to search for individual channels (followed channels included) if they're looking for ANY non-live content, even content they've started watching but had to pause and return to later. Why on Earth should we have to go to the search section and search for any of that content in V10 when V9 gave it to us in a clean and concise manner. Moreover, if we want to know what our followed streamers have recently streamed, we have to search each one individually. And once we've made a decision on who to watch, we get to search them a second time in the same session. It's ridiculous and wasn't so cumbersome in V9.
I could give this a pass if the UI presented the most recent broadcast for each followed channel along side all the live followed channels at the top of the home screen. While still not ideal, at least then I'd only have to waste at most a little time passing through a vod I may not be interested in to get to their profile and find the content I'm ultimately looking for. But I can't even do that, and am instead shoehorned into searching for streamers I already follow.
And to top it all off... The chat history has been completely removed from the vods, and you can no longer send chat messages in the FireTV app.
You also can't force the playback overlay to hide in V10, and instead have to wait 5 seconds for it to disappear on its own. Before, in V9, you could hide it without delay by pressing down
Why has so much functionality been removed and the user experience worsened so tremendously?? Keep V10 and give us back V9!!!

Wow. 2 years and this is still one of the top voted TV Apps items.
It's as bad as the new mobile layout that went live this week.
Are you out there Twitch devs? Don't let the corporate overlords dictate bad design. You know better how your audience engages with the platform.
Still out here happily using a third party client instead.

its now 2024 still have the same BS have to use a phone on a TV app just to type in chat is BS Let alone a Fire TV stick

@baskov1987 I appreciate your trying to look for the positive. I try to do the same.
This isn't one of those times though. None of the changes in v10 were for the better. Every change actively made it worse, even going so far as adding barriers to getting to your followed channels for VODs, which is awful for creators.
Over a year running and I'm still perfectly happy using a community alternative to the official app for TV viewing instead...

I understand your frustration with updating the FireTV app to V10.But let's focus on the positive: instead of going back to the previous version, let's look at new features that might be useful.Perhaps V10 has improved features that you have not yet discovered that can make your browsing experience more convenient and satisfying.Let's put the negative mindset behind us and open up to the new possibilities V10 has to offer

Continue watching removed. No VOD chat. Can't send chat messages in live streams. Design just looks worse. The PHONE APP has more functionality.

Is anything being done about this... The delay and lag is unbearable.i have been supporting the app and the steamers via prime and tier two subscriptions for a couple of years...seems a same to use a third-party platform to get the original features

It’s crazy how with this update I get better quality casting from my phone than using the app because of how bad this version is.

Actually... side loading S0ound TV is the answer. Finally looked into it and it's pretty good. The interface seems a bit glitchy, but the features look to be all there... Can stream at full quality, can see and interact with chat, have full prior stream history... Winning!

@TheRealAppy Or other recourse: Sideload S0undTV?
Once up and running, I found it was way more usable and feature rich than even v9.
ILY twitch, but v10 is truly wretched...

@DarkerDarock, I don't think it has anything to do with Amazon vs Google or anything like that. I think they are just trying unify their technology stack, and willing to upset and inconvenience their user base to do so...
Most will just adjust and put up with the worse application, and they know that (I'm a Product Manager for an web service/product, myself... I get it).
The part of all this that upsets me the most is the loss of video quality because of whatever additional overhead now exists in this consistently worse version of the app. I literally can't stream 1080p over twitch on my 4k capable Fire Stick in the new v10+ app, where I could in v9. And I know it's not my internet, because it's fine in other apps, and not an issue on my Fire Cube in a different room. And it's getting worse, I'm watching an eSports match right now that can't even maintain 720p live. And what's my recourse...? Buy new FireTV hardware... And I just might do it because I'm sick and tired or putting up with it.
These are the reasons capitalism gets a bad wrap.

Great after my Firetv got the update without possibility to chat, now my GoogleTV got it too. I want to type on my TV with my USB keyboard, not on my smartphone. Guess gonna have to install S0undTV . How can you ignore user feedback that much? How can a third party app run much more instant and smoother that your own.

Yea, I just received the google TV update the other day. It's hot garbage. Bring back the old interface.

Instead of listening to your guys’ feedback they decided to release this new app redesign to other devices as well (GoogleTV, Xbox, etc.).

I haw the same issues whit the firestick app. I solved the problem by purchasing a GoogleTv 4K stick, it has a better Amazon Twitch and Amazon Prime app than the Amazon Firestick family of devices. I think it is a inflight between Amazon internal teams that the app situation is so dire.

2023 and no response from twitch at all - its taught me all i need to know about their approach to product development. Its bad when people spend a year asking for you to undo an upgrade you took weeks deleting code for.
