Fix the livestream playback not keeping the screen awake (Android tablet)
After the latest app update I can't even watch streams, the screen turns off like I'm not using the app, and the playback stops (unless background audio option isn't set to "always", then the tablet just locks the screen and goes black, while still playing the audio).
Clips still work fine, I can watch VODs with no problems, the feed still works (even though it's atrocious on a tablet because it forces portrait orientation), but not the livestreams, which are the whole point of this platform. It works on my phone for some reason, but not the tablet.
I even joined the beta program and downloaded a beta build to see if it was fixed, but no, it was not. I won't comment on the state of UI/UX, luckily the redesign didn't affect tablet/landscape much, but having issues like this is just ridiculous.

This started happening for me on my Samsung tablet earlier this week after an update. It's no longer keeping the screen awake, after 2 minutes the screen suddenly turns off while viewing live streams, basically rendering it useless. I've tried clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, verified that Google privacy hasn't turned off any permissions (specifically keep screen awake), looks like it's the app.

Should be a simple little patch to disable the screen timeout. It seems to have been overlooked with the rollout of the 21.1.0 version update that went live on Sept. 6th. Hope it's fixed soon.
Viewing the stream in the browser keeps the screen awake, but I believe chatting (among other features) is disabled in the mobile browser.
Edit: I've encountered the same experience when viewing a VOD my Screen Timeout is apparently disabled successfully. This seems to be purely a tablet specific Live stream issue only.
