Investigate overheating on iOS 16 with picture in picture mode
Ever since I updated to iOS 16, the Twitch app (v14.0.1) has been causing my phone (iPhone 13 Pro) to get extremely hot when I use Picture-in-Picture mode (aka pop out mode). When I revert to full screen, the phone will cool down again. If anyone else experiences this issue, please list;
-Your phone model
-iOS version
-Twitch app version
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your patience. The team has worked with Apple to investigate the overheating/battery drain issue when using Picture-in-Picture that you have reported on iOS 16. Please upgrade to iOS 16.4, as it should address this problem.

Yes after the latest update, heating and battery drain is fine. But, hard pauses still ongoing. I always have to check the screen to play again what I'm watching.

Overheating may not be an issue in the professional advice if twitch devs however PiP hard-pauses still occurs. A simple Reddit search brings up plenty twitch users exp this. Will this be attended to?

I’m having this issue too. Doesn’t happen with YouTube when I’m using PiP

Same with the regular 14. Why has twitch updated their app claiming bug fixes and app performance improvements but not addressed heat issues or PiP non Wi-Fi caused pauses? The app is not optimised for the iPhone. iPhone internals are more than capable to run a streaming app let’s not get this twisted. Do your job devs.

It gets really hot when in PiP and in another app especially. Battery life also drains faster.

Currently on iOS/iPhone, if a twitch stream is put into a Picture in Picture pop over window the device will heat up drastically. No other video in the Picture in Picture pop up will cause the iPhone to heat up drastically.
Please fix!
