Provide an API to trigger a shoutout
Please provide an API for shoutouts to be triggered from the API
We are investigating this now. Look for more updates soon!
Unfortunately, the sudden addition of shield mode has compounded the problem even more. Since a lot of folks, myself included, use "/sh" and hit tab to autocomplete from muscle memory, the autocomplete now completes to "/shieldon" instead.
We found that out the hard way and thought we had lost 6 hours of chat history from the VOD (fortunately afterward, that was not the case); plus it blocked anyone from the incoming raid from being able to chat until we were able to disable it again. Not a very welcoming look to have on your streams.
Because it's too easy to habitually autocomplete from muscle memory, the shoutout slash command is no longer even feasible from chat, and I have to advise against trying to use it and will just have to stick to 3rd party bots to implement Twitch features like shoutouts. I'm hoping Twitch is able to work with the bot developers to ensure the slash shoutouts are able to be implemented.
I think being able to trigger /shoutout and a bots !so at the same time would be so nice. The more options to spread the love, the better.
This will be so usefull
Please! I'm incredibly surprised this wasn't a thing when shoutouts were originally added to the API. I, and so many others would love to have this feature!
I'm surprised this wasn't on the API when the feature was launched!
come on twitch!
maybe I'm being naïve in thinking that twitch actually want us to use the new features they provide?
I have a Twitch extension "Shoutouts for Streamers" and it uses !shoutout and !so commands. Having access to /shoutout would be great.
Thanks for this entry Barry
Yes, and it should be possible to add some shoutout information to it, not just a simple shoutout, so it overrules a !so from chatcommands.
Very much looking forward to this feature. Gonna add it to my chat bot ASAP.
/shoutout is more widely available now but the /shoutout command doesn't seem to work from 3rd party clients, I'm guessing it won't ever be made available due to the deprecation of commands across IRC in Feb 2023 anyway, but it makes this request to add a Shoutout API more essential.
